  1. Clearly another sign of Russian success...
  2. I think Miggy cares and he's trying.... he's a prideful dude. But on this current trajectory, there's an inflection point coming where being prideful goes from keeping on and not quitting to stepping aside and riding out his farewell tour on the bench. Only he can answer that question, I just have a hard time seeing him under the Mendoza line with no power and pressing on come July or August. Something's gonna have to give imo.
  3. I'm not sure my takeaway after he spent a week destroying Florida State League pitching is that he sucks and will never be good.... I'd wait and see if any of it translates, or maybe it's a case of him dealing with injuries in the past and being healthier now or something to that effect. And we've seen cases of guys close being written off as busts come back and perform at higher levels as well (ie. Parker Meadows being the poster child) Having said that, he isn't "pivotal" until he actually shows some progress. Trust but verify.
  4. It was just a brief moment, but Thursday night when he came up with the bases loaded and struck out, the camera caught him walking back to the dugout and, just the combination of result plus lack of attendence plus age on Miggy just seemed sort of pitiful in that moment. I just wonder if things don't get better if he just goes on the 60 Day IL and finishes his tour of the league on the bench. I have a hard time seeing this thing go all season if the production is as bad as it has been during April, something may give.
  5. Normally not one to blame umpires, the Tigers had multiple opportunities yesterday. But that ball to Vierling was pretty bad.
  6. Dingler is the most pivotal prospect in the Tigers system? It would be a boon to have him turn out well, but not sure I'd classify him that way myself.
  7. Cabrera still has pull because he never left, but I would imagine that a lot of fans just want to leave the past in the past and try to progress the current iteration of the Tigers. JP Morosi trying to hype up their return is the most JP Morosi thing ever.... just don't see it landing with most of the fanbase.
  8. Setting aside the bullet to the head, one walk through the Lincoln Library in Springfield dispels this notion... he faced probably more vitriol than any other President and it isn't close.
  9. Totally... I love them, but they are no different than, say, Kevin Gausman was when the Tigers faced him... Just want the current team to figure out a way to beat them whenever they hit the mound.
  10. It's baby steps really, this is an org that hasn't produced much of any talent for a long time, save a few outliers like Fryman, Verlander, Castellanos, etc. People get hung up on the First Round picks and Top 100 rankings, but we will really know they have made it when they can produce major league ballplayers out of players who are neither. Like the Guardians or Rays or Cards.
  11. Not saying that people shouldn't pump the breaks anyway, but it's a case of overreacting to one game in a sport with hundreds of them. Even the best players at any level can have an 0-4 with 3 Ks time and again
  12. Tyler Holton looks like Josh Brolin lol
  13. Cy Bradish back on the mound for the 5th lol
  14. My 4 year old just told me that Spencer Turnbull isn't a good thrower. Even he sees it lol
  15. Yep... That was the one pitch he got in the AB, and he just took it.
  16. I don't understand how Kenny Williams has survived so long... They did manage to win it all in 2005, but boy it has largely been rough ever since. But yeah, that's all on Jerry
  17. Took it upon myself to watch the entire Top of the 7th of the White Sox game... The pitching stood out, obviously, but the bad defense and just letting Tampa runners run at will stood out as well. On paper, they are more talented than the Tigers and Royals... but clearly the dysfunction in that org, top to bottom, is overriding whatever advantage they have on the field at the moment
  18. This play seems like a good metaphor for their entire organization
  19. OMG, Tyler Nevin pulls a Zach Short!
  20. He's a #5 starter, basically. And being asked to do #3 work in this rotation
