  1. Melton deserved better.
  2. A rookie who bounced around 4 teams and never stuck has us a hot water.
  3. Tigers survived Vest. A bit of luck but after half a dozen unlucky games, we deserve it. Now a Finnegan save situation. Gulp!!
  4. It wasn't unassisted. You're correct and Dan was wrong.
  5. Most Tiger fans could easily create a lineup and defense alignment with Zack Short on the bench. I just don't understand the logic...
  6. I don't know....start the BP for the first 3 innings. That way, we would know how many runs we need to catch up. When the BP gives up multiple runs late in the game, we don't have enough time to catch up.
  7. This road trip could be a disaster. Chicago is winning with power in that tiny ballpark.
  8. True, back in those days, nobody cared about pitch counts. Some people think today's pitchers are conditioned to only go 100 pitches. IDK, or care, if thats true.
  9. Hinch would take him out after 6 innings to bring in a AAA pitcher...lmao
  10. Gotta get that AAA guy in there, huh AJ? SMH...
  11. Bases loaded. This has disaster spelled all over it.
  12. The meltdown inning of Jack Flaherty. Every 5th day.
  13. The leash for Flaherty should be this long;
  14. But you were right about hitters being bigger, stronger and in better shape than in years past. That seems to be true all across sports. Look at offensive linemen in football. It was kinda rare to have 300 pound guys, now every player is that big. Or basketball, 7 footers weren't as common as today. And this doesn't even take into account video and scouting. People who play sports now have a year long dedication to it. In years past, players had to have an off-season job. It really is a much different game in modern times. And, IMO, the use of relief pitchers is the biggest difference in baseball.
  15. I guess the totally rested bullpen, sitting unused, was my biggest issue. Hinch has always mostly used new RP to start a clean inning and he didnt in this game. Yes, it may have been matchup issues but the results speak for themselves. Like you said, a different pitcher may have given it up but Vest did give it up. Playing that game, Finnegan may have had a clean inning. We'll never know....
  16. OTOH, how many strikeouts were considered OK by hitters? It <seems> like there's less contact being made by hitters in today's game.
  17. But there's a huge difference in a fly ball over a lined rocket at 100+ MPH or whatever. Even that ball Perez didnt catch wasn't a lazy fly ball, it was hit hard. And Vest's velocity was down just enough to allow a weak hitting Angel team to square up pitches. Yes, he shoulda been out of the inning, but he wasn't. Hinch shoulda made a move before Trout even walked. After Trout walked? Not making a move was/is indefensible.
  18. Flaherty going for his first win of the season...
  19. If this Trump administration was just a movie, I would turn it off. Just too unbelievable. Corruption? Too much to even believe.
