They're just about the only people still calling it "rap", and frequently as part of a rhyming phrase.

Oh man, those are some of my my favorite calls: "I am a registered Democrat, I voted for Biden and for Obama twice and for Clinton twice and for Carter twice and for Johnson and for Kennedy and for Stevenson twice and for Truman and for FDR four times, but I can't take the utter corruption and the lies anymore so I'm voting for Trump, I'm not leaving the party, the party left me."

You really did not read the post, did you, haha

No one is trading Pipeline top-20 prospects for unproven pitchers who would slot in as 5-plus in their rotation.

This idea that "no one lost any money so it wasn't really criminal fraud" thing that's been popping up throughout the RWM is hot garbage. As though if Trump or anyone else defrauds someone who's not a real American that's me, or that's living next door to me, then it's not really a crime. It's the same logic as saying Pete Rose didn't do anything wrong because he didn't bet on his own team to lose. It's still a crime because he put himself in a position to throw games. Same here. By engaging in persistent and repeated fraud through acts such as purposefully maintaining incomplete and inaccurate books, Trump puts himself in a position to cause real loss to real people, at least indirectly if not directly. And Trump's refusal to answer questions directly about this case, veering off instead into non-sequitur issues far beyond the scope of the trial severely compromised his credibility on this case. Just because red hats exonerate Trump through this nonsensical sleight-of-hand reasoning does not mitigate the actual criminality he engaged in, as determined in a court of law. And besides, I categorically reject the premise that Trump's fraud caused no real harm because there were no real victims. There are at least three victims here: (1) the banks who are lending at lower rates as a result of these financial misstatements, putting themselves at risk for absorbing defaults by unworthy debtors, and potentially affecting loan acceptance for other borrowers as a result; (2) those competitors of the fraudster who are doing business honestly; and (3) society at large, because when we have an inequitable system that can be gamed by the powerful or those with insider knowledge, then the rest of us are likelier to get less favorable terms for submitting accurate information even as others are getting favorable terms by submitting what are essentially lies. So enough with "there are no real victims in this case" crap. Just because it's not coming directly out of our pocket right now doesn't mean there's no crime, or that the rest of us aren't losing in the end.

While you’re waiting for the series, there’s always the movie:

This is very different than my prep. I had my second one last month. Setting aside the diet changes which I assume yours is the same as mine, my diarrhea prep was to drink Suprep. It comes in two bottles becasue it’s a two-step treatment. The night before I had to mix one 6-oz bottle with 16 oz of water, and then chase it with another 16 ounces of water, all of which I had to finish within an hour. Then, the morning of, I had to repeat that. Suprep smells and tastes like NyQuil. I never minded the taste of NyQuil until this process. It is just as difficult to drink 22 ounces of it twice in 12 hours as it sounds. One of the things they recommend is drink it through a straw, but really, that just sounded to me like prolonging the agony, so I slammed it down in maybe three minutes. Wow, is it so gross. It’s actually worse than Malort. Last week I got a bad cold and I took a swig of NyQuil to help me sleep. Wow, did the bad Suprep memory come flooding back. It sounds like you might be getting off a little easier than I did. Let us know how it went.

If you root for organizations over players, this was a very good year for you.

I don't think this is the MSM's job, necessarily. I think it's the Democrats' job, and they will get MSM coverage for it. I would be a little wary of the MSM leaning directly into prioritizing criticism of RW media, because at a certain point it will come off as unseemly, because RWM is so steeped in garbage, MSM could reasonably end up doing nothing but.

Those people can be reached. Based on anecdotes I've seen over the past few months or so, a lot of them already have. There's still more work to do with the others. The people who can't be reached are those who vote for him who absolutely want that stuff. They are jealous of their parents and grandparents and great-grandparents who got to live in the the pre-Brown era. They have a lot of rage they need to vent. All they're waiting for is permission from the state.

All depends how "American Way of Life" is defined, because reducing entire classes of people to second-class status based on their identities, backgrounds, beliefs, or choices, and then perpetrating both vigilante and state-sponsored violence against them, is one of the original pillars of the American Way of Life.

I think it's premature to worry about motivating people to vote because the vote is not scheduled for today, or this week, or this month. People aren't thinking about it right now because it's not happening right now. By the time October comes around, though—once the election is actually any day now—people will start to get motivated, I promise you. While I don't worry about motivating people against Trump or even down-ballot Trump Party candidates, what I do worry about are dirty tricks to keep people from the polls, such as disinformation and deep fakes. I also worry about violence, or credible threats of violence, at the polls in contestable places like Michigan. Lastly, I worry about hacking and vote-stealing, because you know how those MAGA people operate: they tell you exactly what they are planning to do with their incredible accusations of the same exact thing against Biden and the Democrats. It is the most obvious and dangerous form of projection imaginable. There will be multiple incidences of breaking into polling places, stealing machines, attempts to switch votes, all of that. That's the thing we have to defend against more than apathy, which I don't think will be a thing.

If we lost this game literally every time, then Trump would have won in 2020, the Trump Party would have super-majorities in the House and Senate from electoral routs in 2018, 2020, and 2022, and this country would be done for right now, at this minute.

You're right, many people aren't interested in facts and truth. But a lot of people are, including independents and fence-sitters. So just throwing up our hands and giving up on trying is not an option.

This cannot be stressed enough. This is not the way a statesman should be talking. At all. Ever. Not even in private conversations. This is related to when Trump said he would be a dictator on day one, for one day only. Or when he suggested injecting Americans with cleaning agents like bleach to kill the COVID virus. Or when he mislabeled the Nobel Prize as the "Noble Prize". Or when he said he can grab them by the pussy and get away with it. Or when he said that Russia should release emails he suggested it had stolen from Hillary Clinton’s private email server. All said very seriously, even earnestly. Then when he was called on each of these, he employed some variation of the "I was just joking" defense. Nobody at his level should be allowed to joke about any of this. he's not a private citizen anymore. he's a public figure, always, 24/7, and by choice. He tries to get it both ways, and his acolytes will allow him to. We cannot follow suit.

I assume that would never make the MAGA news. Someone had to give a multi-billionaire money to make bond? That's fake news. Then, if they were to find out it's not fake news, they pivot and say, that's what make him the greatest businessman in history. He got someone else to bankroll him and he didn't have to pay a penny of his own multibillion-dollar fortune for this unconstitutional deep-state shakedown. Genius!

Does it have to be Elon or foreign government? 😏

There are a lot of things that could possibly happen next. I think declaring bankruptcy is a non-starter because that might actually hurt Trump’s standing in red hats’ eyes. Same could be said of his selling substantial and visible chunks of his real estate portfolio, like Trump Tower—that would be a bad look. His unerring business sense and his billionaireship, or something along those lines, are a central part of his appeal. If it turns out he’s broke, then what is he, really? Although red hats may be so far gone on him, even that might not make a difference. I think a rich benefactor is still solidly in the picture, and someone no one has ever heard of could swoop in with money for his bond, although if Engeron really does have the power to reject the bond due to sourcing, the benefactor would need so many layers between them and a foreign government that no one could vet that in time to decide on the bond, and Engeron just accepts it with some vagueness still attached to it. I doubt Engeron will start seizing assets, especially Trump Tower, because there is a political cost to this, in that it could be the strongest confirmation yet to MAGA that the Deep State is arrayed against him, and Democrats are desperate to avoid the optics of that. I think the most likely possibilities in terms of next step are either (1) months of delays will ensue because of some combination of Letitia James adding an extra 30 or 60 days or so for Trump to come up with the money; appeals court pauses the judgment for some period of time; and/or subsequent supreme courts take up the bond case on appeal; or (2) Engeron accepts a reduced bond amount, substantially lower than $500-ish but substantially higher than $100MM, that one or more of the 30 companies will agree to foot the bill for. Either way, by the time we turn the calendar to April, we will be disappointed that Trump will be evading justice yet again.
-
Oh-for-30. That’s some Javy-level futility right there. Looks like the Tines found that a rich benefactor is still part of the equation: Mr. Trump has asked the appeals court to pause the $454 million judgment that a New York judge imposed on Mr. Trump in the fraud case last month, or accept a bond of only $100 million. Otherwise, the New York attorney general’s office, which brought the case, might soon move to collect from Mr. Trump. Still, even if the higher court rejects his appeal, Mr. Trump is not entirely out of options. He might appeal to the state’s highest court, quickly sell an asset or seek help from a wealthy supporter.

I agree with this on its face, although I do think that Baby Doc has always been more hands off the team than Papa Doc was, and I also think that since he's come to Jesus about the Tigers, Baby Doc is more likely to allow the actual baseball people to make the decisions. I'd be more inclined to agree with you if there were a general clamoring by the fans and the press for Mize to make the team, but I honestly think Mize has been more or less forgotten about by the fans, as of today, and I don't see a movement afoot by the press to shill for him.

You're right, they do, but it's not as though they have to account for the money they are stealing from their country and using it for whatever they want. So what if they throw a couple billion at Trump and it comes up snake eyes? Especially the last two guys.
