RandyMarsh
I hate to say it but I'm getting Deja Vu with the Martin pick to the how I felt when the Lions drafted Tavai. Had the same "Who and the **** is this guy?" thought run through my head. Hopefully this works out better.
Motown Bombers
What an odd pick. Hooker and now Martin? Is there a carbon monoxide leak in the Lions draft room?

And only their second pick in the entire draft. They must really like their roster.
Sports_Freak
I did read there was another kicker as good as or better than Moody. But wow, 3rd round. The 49'ers kicking game is all set for 15 years. Moody is THAT good.

I guess the upside is he could be a Snacks Harrison type.
RandyMarsh
Since the 49ers did it and everybody praises how smart they are I'm sure all the NFL people won't care about the whole "positional value" thing with them taking a kicker that early. He's the first player the Lions have taken with a RAS score this poor since Jermar Jefferson in the 7th round of 2021.
Motown Bombers
This seems to go against Holmes strategy of drafting top athletes.

MichiganCardinal
Holmes has owned the board through two days. No one is going to tell him where he's going to pick. I haven't been counting but it feels like there have been an equal number of trades to picks.
Motown Bombers
If he's a space eater who can free up the linebackers it may not be that bad.
RatkoVarda
Ika goes 2 picks later. Will be interesting to see who is better in 3 years. Doubt it is Martin.
RandyMarsh
There was a report on I believe NFL.com about Martin that closed with "He should be drafted by the 4th round", so atleast going by that report it wasn't a massive reach. Either way though it seems that at the least he possesses a skill(probably space eating or run stopping) that they liked even if his overall grade wasn't that good. Still seems like they could've gotten him later but who knows. Edited April 29, 2023 by RandyMarsh

Motown Bombers
This is Snacks Harrison RAS: Run stuffing space eaters are generally not great athletes. They did struggle against the run at times.

Honestly, I think they just wanted to get rid of some picks. They're coming away with 6 players in the top 100 and still have a couple picks left.
