smr-nj Posted May 30 Posted May 30 I was just given the recommendation of “Bookie” on Max, so I watched episode 1 last night. I liked that it’s only a half hour, and it definitely made me laugh, so I’ll be watching more, especially when I’m needing a stress breaker. Quote

It’s not even a week yet, and I seem to have just about finished both seasons. so much for trying to make it last. The show really hit all the right buttons for me, short enough episodes, and consistently funny. I really like all the characters in it. Quote
Shades of Deivi Cruz Posted June 6 Posted June 6 I am three episodes in on season two of The Rehearsal on HBO/Max. Such a weird show, but I love it. Episode three especially was beyond bizarre (in a great way). Quote
IdahoBert Posted June 9 Posted June 9 All sorts of great science fiction will be returning soon. Season 3 of Apple TV+'s sci-fi series "Foundation" will premiere on Friday, July 11, 2025. The first two seasons are incredible. This third season was delayed by the writers strike as well as by foot dragging from studio execs who demanded drastic budget cuts which led showrunner David S. Goyer to resign. He’ll still be writing scripts, but he won’t be doing any directing or organizing all the minutiae so I don’t know how good it’s going to be. Basically, they got rid of the the genius that made it work. Season 3 of Paramount+’s Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will premiere on Thursday, July 17, 2025, with the first two episodes being released back-to-back. The show resonates with the best aspects of the original series and it honestly makes my heart sing. The cast is just phenomenal. The second season of Peacemaker will premiere on August 21, 2025, on Max. The season is set to feature John Cena reprising his role as Christopher Smith/Peacemaker. I loved this quirky surprising show. Fallout Season 2, set to premiere in December 2025 on Amazon Prime Video, will continue the story from the first season, taking viewers to the Mojave Wasteland and the post-apocalyptic city of New Vegas. It was a really gripping program and I hope more of the same continues. 2 Quote
IdahoBert Posted June 9 Posted June 9 Additionally, the final season of Stranger Things, titled "Stranger Things 5," will be released on Netflix in three parts over the holiday season. Volume 1, featuring the first four episodes, will drop on November 26th (the day before Thanksgiving). Volume 2, with three episodes, will be released on Christmas Day, December 25th. The final episode, "Volume 3," will premiere on New Year's Eve, December 31st. This marks a shift from the typical full-season release, with the final episode being a standalone event. I understand some of the episodes will be as long as a full length movie Quote
romad1 Posted June 9 Posted June 9 I'm enjoying "The Pitt" on Max and "Paradise" on Hulu. I would say the former is more my speed but its a bit gorier than the wife would like. Quote
antrat Posted June 9 Posted June 9 (edited) I am totally disillusioned with The Last of Us. Not even going to start shooting until 2027 or some such. Eff that. I could be dead by then, Edited June 9 by antrat 1 1 Quote

Deleterious Posted June 27 Posted June 27 S04 of The Bear was better than S03, but still bad. I wont say much else just yet because it just came out. Quote
IdahoBert Posted July 2 Posted July 2 My son urged me to watch Mike Flanagan‘s 8-episode Fall of the House of Usher based upon Edgar Allan Poe’s story. If you like watching rich evil people die horrible deaths you’ll like this. It’s about one of the richest families in the world in present day NYC whose cornerstone business is a crooked pharmaceutical company marketing an equivalent of the drug OxyContin and involved in countless other shady endeavors. oblong Posted July 2 Posted July 2 to prepare for The Bear season 4 we finally watched the final episode of season 3 and I honestly had no idea what it was about. I hope season 4 is better. Quote
Hongbit Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Both @IdahoBert and @slothfacekilla have touted The Studio. I finally got around to it and haven’t been able to stop. Fantastic. Everything about it is great. 1 Quote

Everything about it is great. It’s really quite a treat. I really enjoy the way they copied Frank Lloyd Wright’s Mayan Revival Style blocks from the Ennis House in LA. It’s something I noticed in one of the offices in the Fall of the House of Usher TV series as well as in Deckard‘s apartment in the first Blade Runner. 1 Quote
slothfacekilla Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Yes!! I'm glad you're enjoying it hb, I really miss it, I thought their first season was fantastic. They better make more! 1 Quote

oblong Posted Friday at 04:34 PM Posted Friday at 04:34 PM We watched Nothing But A Good Time on Paramount +. It was fun. I read the book that was either based on this or that this was based on, not sure which came first. Unless you lived it you might not appreciate it. Deprecating enough but also hey.... we liked it. I'll own that. No shame. As they say later on when the bands start their revivals "Music got too serious...." He's right. Quote

IdahoBert Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I’ve started re-watching “Homicide: Life on the Street” with my son who’s 50 years younger than myself and never watched it before. He is a big Andre Braugher fan but only knows him from Brooklyn Nine-Nine. I watched every episode of Homicide in the 1990s when it came out it and will be a long odyssey through seven seasons so my son and I are not going to binge it because it’s worth savoring. Quote
