CFP semi-final: #1 Michigan against a school named after a type of Chili or #2 Michigan vs. a team who couldn't even win the SEC

Can’t decide what was the funniest moment of the show. A) Panel joking that Alabama’s preference for Cotton Bowl might because more temptations in Miami for players to get in trouble or b) the Georgia correspondent explaining that rather than meeting as a team the Georgia players will be emailed the semi-final schedule by coaches at 1pm: “it is final exam week at Georgia after all, so a very busy time for these student  athletes”

Herbie did have one good point though the rest blew him off - Georgia had zero to play for yesterday.

I don’t know. Maybe at some point in the game this became true, but they were playing for an undefeated season and an SEC Championship. That’s not nothing, it’s not like they played backups the whole time.

I also think there was some motivation to win just so they could potentially keep Bama out of the playoffs and not have to worry about running into them in the playoffs.  There was definitely more at stake for Bama though since they were essentially win or go home in terms of making the playoffs but that doesn't mean Georgia had nothing to play for or no motivation.

But how much does any  of that matter if they win the big one at the end?  Maybe one thing is that if Georgia beat 'Bama they wouldn't have to face them again. So sure - that and going undefeated counts for something. But even with that Herbie's point was that they  weren't in the position of any of the other three teams -  who all would have been out of the playoff if they had lost. That is a little different level of desperation. So I thought he had a fair point based on that comparison.

as noted above, there were some motivations for them, but they were not playing for the chance to stay in the playoff. There is no bigger motivation than win or go home and all the teams but Georgia had it. It was valid point. But since there is a good chance (sadly) they are going to get a rematch in the title game, we'll probably get to see if Ga plays any better with all the chips on the table or not. Not that I wouldn't be perfectly happy not to see it happen....image.png.6dbfafdfb4c262438202b5c1a065a18c.png

the point that georgia had "zero" to play for is false.
