A bit off track but I found out today that folk singer Woody Guthrie had a song called Old Man Trump in his repertoire.  The song describes Fred Trump's racist practices as a landlord. Woody rented an apartment at Trump's Beach Haven Apartments. I don't think he ever recorded the song but did sing it often. There are versions on YouTube

Thinking about this a bit on a much nicer dog walk this evening after we got some rain today and regime change is a must, am I wrong?  If our intel, not Israel's, but what is being reported about our Intel, that 1) they weren't looking to create nuclear weapons and even if they were, they were years away and 2) that we likely only sent them back 3-6 months, then the best thing for the current power structure in Iran to do is to bow to Trump and let him take his victory lap as he tries to claim he brought world peace.  Meanwhile, they have already discussed and determined that now is the time to go full speed ahead on a weapon, right?  That gives them 3 years under Trump to get it while he ignores it because ignoring it will make his base feel it's not an issue.

And don't get me wrong, I was extremely hesitant of any action in Iran because of Iraq.  Yes I used to have grandiose ideas of what great things could come out of Arab Spring, but I've seen the results.  This just seems like such a bad spot for the world.  Please someone tell me I'm wrong...I want to be wrong.

Warmongering centrists are leftists now? It was the left (plus Ron Paul and the libertarians) who warned Iraq was going to be a complete disaster. It was. The same warmongering centrist who thought it would be a good idea to send troops into Iraq. One good decision doesn't cancel out one bad decision. Biden and many centrist Democrats clearly thought it was a good idea to allow DubyaMD and the Bush Administration to have full authority to unilaterally invade Iraq. They went along with faulty intelligence that said Saddam had ties to terrorists organizations, was trying to build a nuclear weapon with yellowcake uranium from Niger, and had weapons of mass destruction. There were 23 brave Senators and 123 House Reps who did not by into the Bush Administration's warmongering and saber rattling. They get credit for making the right decision that Biden didn't.

As to the Fetterman issue, I think Fetterman's voting record has made it clear he isn't much of a progressive or leftist. Post-stroke John Fetterman has been a completely different human being and not at all like the candidate who ran in 2022.
