He should lock the whole thing. “If you want to have them pick up litter on the roads like drunk drivers doing community service, that’s on you”. Then treat those unfortunate service members sent on a dog and pony show with respect.  Give them more than TX or the feds would.

Are these real drugs or are they like fentanyl from Canada made up drugs for Trump's agenda? So it's just a death sentence?

so where was this action? That doesn't(didn't) look like much of an open ocean boat, but maybe they use the cheapest hulls they can hang a lot of engines on figuring them to be disposable.

This is a few weeks old, so apologies if someone already posted it.

Very long but excellent article from the WSJ.  There is so much slime and shady **** in that article, I couldn't decide which section to post to best highlight it.

The Recipe Behind the Trump Family’s Crypto Riches: PancakeSwap

Quote

The Trump family’s crypto venture has generated more wealth since the election—some $4.5 billion—than any other part of the president’s business empire.

A major reason for the success is a partnership with an under-the-radar trading platform quietly administered by Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange, whose founder is seeking a pardon from President Trump, according to people familiar with the matter.

The online trading platform, PancakeSwap, serves as an incubator of sorts, drumming up interest among traders to use coins issued by the Trump family’s main crypto company, World Liberty Financial.

The more World Liberty’s flagship coin, USD1, is used, the greater demand to increase its circulation, and the greater the profit for World Liberty and its owners, including the Trump family.

Whiting is BP's largest refinery, in my experience in the industry, BP was its worst worst operator.

But things will only get worse at US refineries. US gasoline consumption has been flat since 2017. The 4 million EVs on US roads have already eliminated the production of one medium size refinery from the market, and the rapid increase in the numbers of hybrids, plug-in hybrids and EVs displacing ordinary IC vehicles is a pretty solid guarantee that the US is now turning the corner past 'peak oil.'  As the existing refineries fight for market share to keep their operating factors up, margins will be squeezed, maintenance will be deferred, and more refineries will end up down on an 'unscheduled' basis.

Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of guys. :classic_laugh:

They are undertaking efforts to discourage EVs and move people back toward IC.

Just talk about it and talk about it and talk about it some more, then, when it happens, everyone's like, yeah, well, they said they would, shrug.

It’s really not even a death sentence, is it? Death sentences are typically carried out in controlled circumstances like electric chairs and gas chambers and medical gurneys or even prison yards. This was more like open murder.

looks like the missing minute from Epstein cellblock, which Bondo said was missing for every night, is not missing and even though they released everything they had (after Bill Barr said there was no video), they just released even more video

Trump is having a fly over in DC today on a random Wednesday to both literally and figuratively drown out the sound of the survivors press conference

no idea what is in the Epstein files, but Trump clearly thinks it is really, really bad for him

They'll keep fighting the rear guarde actions, in the end I don't think it's going to change the long term trend because the tech is moving the total cost of ownership for EVs to a lower price point, and in the end that will be determinative. Just as they have had little success moving utilities off the move to renewables, because generating costs for renewables are just lower now. Buyers won't care about Green vs Maga politics when it becomes a  pocketbook issue and when buyers move the government will follow because people want to get elected.

You mean this Thomas Massie?

exactly. It's called 'initiative' and the perp always has it, which is why no matter how may weapons are around, an armed perp is seldom stopped until after a lot of damage is done.

To get on my 'old man yells at cloud' soapbox, Hollywood is responsible for so much public misunderstanding of what gun play is really about. In video bystanders don't get hit by stray bullets, the good guys don't panic and shoot the wrong person, the cops are always brave and self-sacrificing. People just aren't immune to all the images they digest over a lifetime. They may have some intellectual awareness that 'that's not real life' but there is no escaping that the nature of violence as we see it depicted literally thousands of times creates a perceptual bias about reality.

The only school shooting in recent memory in my current city was done by a teacher.

The only school shooting ever at my high school was accidently done by the resource officer.

The resource officer at my school pulled a gun on a student when that student caught him in the woods with her 15 year old friend... got a slap on the wrist.

You win!!  lol

Not sure if the guy at my old school was jailed, but I do know he lost his job.  Had to dig this up to remember the details:

"The reports state Deputy Adam J. Brown, the school's resource officer, at about 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, fired a .380-caliber Sig Sauer pistol while in a classroom. He and another teacher had been in the robotics classroom using a force machine to test the trigger pull on a Springfield EMP 9mm handgun. Surveillance camera footage shows Brown and the teacher exit the classroom, with Brown returning alone shortly thereafter. He again used the force machine, this time with the Sig Sauer, apparently causing it to discharge.

...

The bullet passed through two pieces of drywall and entered a classroom occupied by about 30 students. It traveled toward the ceiling, scraped a tile, proceeded to hit a cement wall, ricocheted off it, careened across the room, and struck teacher Brenda Amthor in the neck.

Amthor was sitting down at her desk when the projectile struck her. She bore a small scratch, but was uninjured, as the bullet had lost its velocity, according to the reports."

He then played dumb in the hopes no one would know it was him that shot it.   Makes me feel so much better about 'good guys with guns'.   </sarcasm>
