In the early 2000's they were studying low yield nukes for bunker busting because they had pretty much given up on the idea that any conventional weapon could work on a properly hardened deep target. Eventually that was spiked because you couldn't get the warhead deep enough to contain a massive release of fallout - which was the initial thesis. So they went back to the drawing board on conventionals. According to reports today they are using a new intermediate size GBU72 because GBU109 apparently wasn't enough. The big bertha GBU-72 has limited supply and can only be delivered by the B-2, making it massively expensive to use. Dropping each of those probably costs more than digging the hole it collapses. I'm pretty confident the mass media reporting about these things conflates maximum theoretical potential performance with likely real world outcomes. Edited 5 hours ago by gehringer_2 Quote

I worked this selection process inside the bowels of the Pentagon. There were some insane submissions. Some really effective solutions and some involving things that would seem too fantastic for the Frank Herbert "Dune" series. As part of that I went out to Nevada Test Site and got a look at some of the tests. Fun stuff. Although Las Vegas, for work, by yourself is kinda depressing. Quote
CMRivdogs Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Can you imagine the outcry from the right if department heads from the Obama, Biden or even the Clinton Administrations had posted stuff like this on line. Our country is now being run by guys (mostly) who are still into video games they played when they were teenagers... https://bsky.app/profile/sarahposner.bsky.social/post/3mhqiinicrc2j 1 Quote

Sounds like someone could really get hurt ****ing around with Romeo's own Robert Ritchie. Mods, can we please delete this thread and any other posts that may have ****ed with Trump? I don't want to be ****ed with by Robert Ritchie. Thank you! 1 Quote

CMRivdogs Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago When was the last time this guy was relevant? It's not 2006 anymore, nothing worse than a has been still trying to hang on. You could say the same for most MAGA Quote
oblong Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Bobby Ritchie is one of those dudes who starts yelling and screaming while backing away, then once he's behind his pals, he pretends he wants to fight, like Jared Weaver when he went after Ozzie Guillen. Once finger is all it would take to knock him on his ass. I bet he's been in exactly one fight. Quote

The global economy is seriously in trouble because of his moronic war. He's a terrorist leader, ordering murders of leaders of other countries. He played Judge, Jury and Executioner. He should be brought up on war crime charges. First he allowed a virus to become a pandemic, and when it caused worldwide inflation, he blamed Joe Biden. And now I hear him blaming Obama and Biden for Iran....the man is a total menace to worldwide society. When is enough going to be enough? Quote

I have the video of that on a hard drive, somewhere...lol Quote

Uhhh..the tax returs in 2016...stupid fat fingers! Too late to edit. 😒 Quote

Workers who fall for ‘corporate bull****’ may be worse at their jobs, study finds | Business | The Guardian I think this describes a lot of MAGA. I think this is driven by the combination of FOMO coupled to a lack of intellectual time/energy to spend the time parsing though complex syntax to see if there is actually anything there. The short version would be - "I don't know if any of that make sense and it's too much work to figure out exactly what if anything it all means, but if I don't get on board I may miss something." The real problem is when the people spewing it believe there is something to what they are saying when there actually isn't, when the concepts fall apart as soon as they are pushed into clear light. I want critical thinkers in my employ but often its easier to employ yes-men. I was once counseled by a senior VP that my best bet is just to smile and not let people know what I think. Mastering the zen of that is the key to getting ahead. One of the bull****tier things in our modern society is the "we have a startup mentality here" to enable the bosses to abuse their employees. Who is we? I have moved past the idea that he will ever suffer any recriminations, but certainly have not moved byond the idea that he SHOULD face recriminations. Quote
