Trump already did that.

Fourteenth Amendment  Equal Protection and Other Rights

Section 3 Disqualification from Holding Office

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

Yeah, I thought the Dems should have had the vote to remove the disability in the House and had it fail just to muddy things more. But, Dems seem to worry more about voter perception than they should.

From the story:

Asked by NBC News in an interview that aired Sunday whether he would rule out seizing Greenland by force, Trump demurred.

“I don’t rule it out,” he said. “I don’t say I’m going to do it, but I don’t rule out anything. No, not there. We need Greenland very badly. Greenland is a very small amount of people, which we’ll take care of, and we’ll cherish them, and all of that. But we need that for international security.”

That one part, that dismissive “all of that”? That’s the tell that he doesn’t give a flying **** about any idiot who would live in Greenland. He’d as soon deport them to Uzbekistan than even look at them.

Figuring out what Trump's language means is a stretch.  He has the vocabulary of a 10 year old.  Your concluson is correct though!

Trump is not immune from speech content analysis. He’s not completely random and unknowable. If he were, he could not be effectively played and manipulated by foreign governments, since they would never be sure how to deal with him. But they know how, and in a very exact way.

Evidently Trump got his Alcatraz idea from watching reruns of the Birdman From Alcatraz on the local PBS station in Palm Beach. Maybe they should start rerunning Mr Smith goes to Washington a few late Saturday nights.  Or possibly All the King's Men

Trump is a master at manipulating people but is easily manipulated himself.

During a spell when I was a fish out of water engineer working in what was basically a sales organization, I saw that weird dynamic: people who could charm their own mark but were also susceptible to being charmed themselves. Counter-intuitive (at least to me) but the phenomenon appears real.

They can manipulate him because he's an idiot and also because he loves to be praised.

Maybe they should defund PBS after all.

That will mean even more old movies and fewer programs like Nature and Independent Lens.

If you want that great.

(I realize you were tongue in cheek) but take a look at what your local station does behind the scenes from things like early learning to Michigan Learning Channel to even PBS Books (PBS Books is online)

Most of this doesn’t receive national funding directly but from other avenues that do so

don't they need 67?  It's 2/3.

And frankly, generally speaking, I think Congress would be wise to set up a precedent where impeachment/removal is a real threat.  That goes for R's and D's.  The executive branch needs to be curtailed back to where it was before FDR.  It was, excluding LIncoln, a smaller scale office.  Let's get back to that.
