The closest to 'Nam that Trump has ever been lol.

A few weeks ago, he targeted Boston which might be the safest big city in the country.  Boston mayor Michelle Wu calmy told him where to go.

Harp on this a lot, but what are we getting for all of this? Material conditions that are worse than they were previously, unless you are a billionaire or a techie.

As someone in my high 30s, it absolutely sucks having to spend the prime years of life thinking about this guy and that this generation, collectively, will have to deal with the aftermath of the damage that he will leave in his wake. And it absolutely sucks to have to raise kids in a society where (at the very least) a large minority gets off on being ***holes all the time.

It's all very dangerous, but it's all very pointless as well. What a waste.

The ultimate call for shooting at that boat falls to the Commander in Chief, Donald J. Trump. A person who is perhaps the most profligate liar in American life today.

Again, forgive me for not taking anything coming from this administration at face value. Given how often they lie, nobody owes them their trust.

So I'll give some points to GG on this in that I do have trust that folks in the lower/mid levels of the military are just trying to do their best.  It doesn't mean they should have control and dictate decisions, but my guess is they did believe their were drugs on board.  That said, you better be right and IMO if you take it to this level, there better be a review to confirm you are right.  That portion will not get done under Trump, that portion is probably not even allowed to be questioned.

So, is he declaring WAR against us?  Because they gather up people without regard to their status, and they terrorize OUR streets. Where WE live.

He’s like a damn 3rd grader with his stupid memes and tough talk.
Except, of course, he’s sending troops without proper training, but WITH real guns.

The thought in my head is “how ****ing DARE he”.  😡

All I know is that "Ride of the Valkyries" isn't going to make the commute into town on the Kennedy any faster...

Not trying to downplay the danger of what they are doing, but we need to be clear that a lot of this is about putting on a show for not only his base, but to demoralize his detractors as well.

I address your point a little bit in a subsequent post about civil-military relations.... the problem for me is that Trump 2.0 has breached that trust, at least for me.

I would love nothing more than to believe that this was a Commander in Chief following soberly given advice, but I have too much self-respect to swallow anything that this administration says without question.

It appears that is what Speaker Thiel is telling you.

So, asking for a friend.

If the president stops, let’s say, by his count, a dozen wars… BUT gets us (& the rest of the world) right smack in the middle of a world war…. which results in a nuclear winter -  - -

- - - is that President still in line for the Nobel Peace Prize? 🤔   Or is the fact that Norway has been incinerated hurt his odds?

Frankly if we reach DEFCON 1, I don't think it really matters. We need to start teaching our grandkids how to effectively Duck and Cover

That was terrifying growing up. When my boys ask me about it now, I downplay it. I just tell them it's been a threat my whole life and never happened. There's nothing we can do if it happens.

Your friend needs to be more positive about the actuarial tables.

This is pathetic

It is not the most important story of the day, but damn if it doesn't sum this moment up well... an unpopular autocratic leader who is incapable of handling dissent, and a media that goes out of their way to stifle expressions of his unpopularity.

That's not the America I grew up in... What a snowflake this POTUS is

this is the thing. Can you imagine Murrow and what used to be CBS rolling over for a demand even from a Pres as popular as Ike?

Previous presidents, including Nixon and LBJ, didn't threaten to deploy goons to kill the people who displeased Damien Thorn.

And the truth is, Americans buy illegal drugs voluntarily. We 100% create the market and then accuse the people of filling it of being the problem. So the whole premise is at best a half-truth. Can anyone argue that the Venezuelans are responsible for more US addiction than Purdue pharma? How many Sacklers has JD or his boss dropped any bombs on? I'm sure that family has at least one Yacht our erstwhile drug enforcement wannabes could have blown out of the water.

I think Murrow saw this coming. Watch George Clooney's Good Night and Good Luck. Hopefully the Broadway edition they did on CNN is on YouTube or floating around somewhere.

The highlight to me has always been his speech to the RTNDA ( now called the Radio TV Digitial News Association) back in the day it was the Radio Television News Directors Association. Now it seems that there is no news to direct.

The Trump administration is planning to make the test to become a U.S. citizen more difficult, possibly with an essay requirement that would help give officials wide discretion on which immigrants are approved.

https://www.axios.com/2025/09/07/trump-immigration-us-citizenship-test?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newsletter_axiosam&stream=top

I can't argue with the concept of a tougher citizenship test. But I will propose all office seekers and appointees to federal offices also be required to take the test with the results being public.
