Dǐck Stuart is one of those guys who played within my lifetime (technically) who almost never registers with me as I think about players from his era. Talk about Dr Strangeglove: he had over 200 home runs and still couldn’t clear 8 WAR for his career. Amazingly, there are five other 200-home-run hitters who had even fewer wins even having hit 200+ homers, like Dante Bichette and Jose Guillen and Mark Reynolds.

I'm fascinated by the career of Chris Davis. He played 13 seasons and in 3 of those seasons his combined war was 15. The other 10 seasons his combined was -3.5

In his final season his ops+ was -8. I cannot wrap my head around that.

His compensation for that production was nearly 200 million

I thought Bichette would have had more WAR than that.  13 years with an OPS+ above 100 and less than 8 WAR?  That is remarkable.  He had -34 Fielding Runs one year before you even get to the positional adjustment!

He deserved a few WAR just for his eyebrows.

Grayson Rodriguez for Taylor Ward? Not sure I get it. Rodriguez might need a transition year, but is under control for several years.

32 yr old OF who was already a late bloomer whose contact and OB have been dropping and his K rate rising, whose productivity is only sustained by his increasing HR numbers? Not a profile I find appealing. Maybe Rodriguez' rehab hasn't gone well.....

That's a head scratcher for Elias for sure who normally grips on his controllable players.

Randy Jones of Padres fame passed away at 75.  If you’re a Tigers fan of a certain age, you probably recall him facing off against Mark Fidrych in the’76 All Star game.  In addition, his ‘fro was majestic.

RIP, Randy.

He was something like 15-3 at the all-star break that year. I remember it well. RIP. Had a few very good years.

I loathe Manfred but I have to hand it to him, he pulled a rabbit out of a hat with this new TV deal.

Looks like this new deal will take even more games out of the MLB.tv package and put them on another platform. All the games ESPN will be exclusive to them, as will the Peacock morning games. It looks like Apple, TBS, and FOX are unaffected by the new deal.

Hoping T-Mobile keeps the free MLB games access (even if fewer games are available there).

From what I've seen the agreement still stands. I think the agreement runs thru 2028. I guess we'll see
