chasfh Posted Saturday at 01:11 PM Posted Saturday at 01:11 PM Dǐck Stuart is one of those guys who played within my lifetime (technically) who almost never registers with me as I think about players from his era. Talk about Dr Strangeglove: he had over 200 home runs and still couldn’t clear 8 WAR for his career. Amazingly, there are five other 200-home-run hitters who had even fewer wins even having hit 200+ homers, like Dante Bichette and Jose Guillen and Mark Reynolds. Quote
CMRivdogs Posted Saturday at 03:40 PM Posted Saturday at 03:40 PM The late great Bob Prince had a nickname for Stuart. Doctor Strangeglove 2 Quote

I'm fascinated by the career of Chris Davis. He played 13 seasons and in 3 of those seasons his combined war was 15. The other 10 seasons his combined was -3.5 In his final season his ops+ was -8. I cannot wrap my head around that. His compensation for that production was nearly 200 million Quote

I thought Bichette would have had more WAR than that. 13 years with an OPS+ above 100 and less than 8 WAR? That is remarkable. He had -34 Fielding Runs one year before you even get to the positional adjustment! He deserved a few WAR just for his eyebrows. Quote

Arlington Posted Monday at 02:35 AM Posted Monday at 02:35 AM I looked at Edgar Martinez' stats and, unless I am reading things wrong, and I probably am, he appears to have been a better defending DH than the replacement DH. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/martied01.shtml Quote

Then he started having hamstring problems and became a fuill-time DH. Quote

papalawrence Posted yesterday at 12:51 AM Posted yesterday at 12:51 AM JJ Bleday dfa'd today. He was the pick right before Riley in the 2019 draft, and I recall reading Detroit would take him at 5 if he fell. Quote

Not a profile I find appealing. Maybe Rodriguez' rehab hasn't gone well..... Quote

Tenacious D Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Randy Jones of Padres fame passed away at 75. If you’re a Tigers fan of a certain age, you probably recall him facing off against Mark Fidrych in the’76 All Star game. In addition, his ‘fro was majestic. RIP, Randy. 2 Quote

All the games ESPN will be exclusive to them, as will the Peacock morning games. It looks like Apple, TBS, and FOX are unaffected by the new deal. Quote
