Probably the most short-lived and now useless electronic device is the the digital converter used to change the digital broadcast signals over to analog signals for old analog TVs.  Big in 2007 or thereabouts when all the broadcast signals were digitalized overnight.  You know you are really dealing with a hoarder when they hang on to one of those because "someone might need it" (e.g. my parents.)

Tarik (maybe with 3 Cy Youngs) will hit free agency at the same age as Cease; 10/400 is not crazy

If Dylan Cease can get seven years, I have trouble seeing Tarik settling for eight.

Eh, it's only one more year. Might as well just do the minimum, cash the checks, and ride into the sunset while flipping 'em off.

There is a limit to that though. If he shows up he's going to have to at least work at training etc to a reasonable level or he is in breach of contract and could end up fined/suspended and lose some money anyway.

Rendon has made over $200M in salary to this point.  If he ain’t set himself up for life by now, that’s just flipping ridiculous.

The union will fight against any settlement for less money not to protect Rendon's retirement nut, per se, but to prevent that kind of precedent from affecting other clients.

Just read that some of Cease's salary is deferred and it's actually calculated as 7/182, 26 million aav.
