gehringer_2 Posted yesterday at 03:36 AM Posted yesterday at 03:36 AM Winning streak by the top 4 CenDiv teams now at 21. Even if you assume all 4 are 60% winning clubs, the binomial eqn gives the odds of the current combined streak as 1 in 45,000 Quote

KC has a quality team. They aren't going away Quote
papalawrence Posted yesterday at 04:19 AM Posted yesterday at 04:19 AM Colt Keith's average is up to .229 and his ops .732. He may be entering a torrid streak like he had last May and June Quote

Those guys were playing almost .700 ball by early June and were less than a week’s worth of games behind us. Quote
TigerNation Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Looking at some statcast data the Tigers have a team wOBA of .333 with an xwOBA of .340. Those rank 7th and 8th in MLB respectively. The next closest team in the Central in wOBA is Cleveland at .312 and in xwOBA is the Twins at .319. The Tigers are 5th in first swing% but 15th in swing%. The pitching has wOBA of .283 and an xwOBA of .301 which rank 2nd and 1st in MLB. The Royals are close behind ranking 3rd in both wOBA and xwOBA with .285 and .305. Tigers staff is second in baseball with a whiff rate of 27.8%. Overall, the statcast data is very good and reinforces that this isn't some flukey run. This team is legit. And we still haven't added back Vierling/Meadows. Quote
IdahoBert Posted 14 hours ago Author Posted 14 hours ago Wow, the Dodgers pitching really sucks compared to ours: 1 Quote

Even if you assume all 4 are 60% winning clubs, the binomial eqn gives the odds of the current combined streak as 1 in 45,000 I'm getting deja vu to the NFC North standings this past year in football. Felt like despite the Lions playing so well that they should be running away with things the Vikings and Packers kept winning as well making it come down to the end for the division. It's early but as of now it appears the Central may be the same way this year. Quote
RandyMarsh Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Since bottoming out on August 30th of 2023 the Tigers have now gone 131-99 in their past 230 games which works out to a 93 win pace. Yeah it's an arbitrary cutoff but there is some tangible differences to the team around that starting point. Skubal came back from his injury a month earlier and was really starting to get into his dominant form. The younger guys who played a role on last years team and/or this start like Carpenter, Vierling and Meadows were starting to play more regularly and perform along with Tork finishing that 2023 strong. Basically the youth movement was starting to take shape in the back half of that summer and since then the Tigers have played at an elite level for nearly a season and a half. All of this is to say that it is kinda frustrating when I see things from local and national outlets questioning if this team is "real", like these 39 games are the only sample of them playing winning baseball of late when that simply hasn't been the case. Maybe someone like Kenley Jansen (assuming we didn’t end his career the other night) or Pete Fairbanks. Can always use extra pitching down the stretch, especially another arm for the playoffs. Reliever's I am looking at (on teams doing poorly... and the A's...): Jeff Hoffman with the Blue Jays and Mason Miller with the A's are on the top of my list. If the Guardians run out of gas... maybe Hunter Gaddis? Quote
