Hinch was doing whatever he could to give Montero an edge... and to win games. I don't think it was "stupid"... I think instead it was VERY telling of where Montero is at... Toledo. I think SGL is much better than that... but, we'll see. Jobe was the only starter less effective than Montero (mostly due to walks, but Jobe had a higher K/9, upside, and HR's only 1 every 7 innings versus Montero's 1 every 5 innings...); but you can easily see the higher potential. I still think Montero ends up in the bullpen and will be more effective there than as a starter. He's missing too much to make it as a starter... unless he finds a "huge leap" somewhere up his sleeve. Given our current lack of health with our starters however... Well, if hes in the bullpen, maybe Hinch can use him as an opener. Lol Quote

monkeytargets39 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago It’d be nice if we’d officially move past the point where we are trying to rehab questionable pitchers and just go out and acquire some proven ones. 1 Quote

While it would be nice if he could get deeper into a games I'm going to guess that isn't in the cards. Maybe another year out from the surgeries. Quote
monkeytargets39 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Can’t blame this game on Riley at least…. Quote

Hongbit Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago What do they do about Carp? This slump is going on 3 weeks. Since that 3HR game against the White Sox: 5 hits in 37 AB 0 HR 0 RBI 0 BB Quote

Try to get him healthy Edited 13 hours ago by monkeytargets39 1 Quote
gehringer_2 Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago we were worried the offense would be flat on the short turnaround and they've put up six. You're gonna lose when your starter blows a gasket but actually a decent sign the rest of the team (well, Riley anyway!) bounced back well after yesterday. Quote
monkeytargets39 Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago I felt bad for Munson. If he was drafted by a competent organization he’d have probably had a decent career. Quote

papalawrence Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Long season. Everyone slumps. Tork has still hit some bullets the past week, as has Meadows. Just not in the gaps or holes. The Dodgers slumped. The Yankees and Mets are slumping. The AL Central is slumping. These guys will come around, including Carp. Tork might end up at .235, but I'll wager his ops will be ~ .830 when the season ends. They'll start mashing again about the time Riley goes into another slump Quote
gehringer_2 Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Torkelson's BaBIP in his last 25PA is 125. Baseball happens. Relax folks. Quote

I think he breaks out of it at some point but this one is really bad. 30 day stats after last night: .184/.215/.355 3 HR 5 RBI 1 BB 22 K As bad as these are, they are even worse factoring in the 3 HR and 5 RBI came in one game on June 2. One thing I can think of is in the first scenario, the guy has to go onto another team’s big league roster. Anything else? Quote

That was pretty slick. I enjoy those. There was one a few years ago, I think it was a pregame preparation for a college baseball team. The drone went all around the venue, the stadium, locker room, workout room, might have even went through a part of campus. It included players and personnel doing various activities. It was really cool. Quote
