Question about roster expansion; Do teams have to use the roster as of August 31st to set a playoff roster? Or...is it any player on the 40 man roster who can be used for a playoff roster?

I am pretty sure that anybody on the 40 as of 8-31 can be in the playoffs.  For example, this is how the Tigers hope to use Paul Sewald

Is there any shot mcgonigle gets to Detroit? If you had to win a game tomorrow, would you prefer mcgonigle or Baez against rhp? Steamer has Baez forward looking wrc at 81, mcgonigle at 103.

Active roster plus IL spots as of August 31 are eligible. Anybody in the organization can be a replacement for a player from that pool who is injured.

Zero shot this year, IMO.

Agreed. I would go a bit further and not expect him until at the earliest end of next season. That can change but so for the front office seems to like mid season promotions and then start the next season at that location as well. So that same trajectory would put him Toledo/Detroit in the second half of the 26 season. That goes for Clark as well.

Just catching up here.  The announcer for WM's Patrick Lee's fabulous diving catch and assist at first called it a walk-off double play.  I don't think I've ever heard walk-off used for a defensive play, at least not in a positive way.

I had thought Anderson was highly likely to be traded at the deadline. Maybe there wasn’t a match, or he’s not that well regarded. Let’s see how he does at AAA.

I think the Tigers think highly of him.
