1984Echoes Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Who said anything about Harris "publicizing" Skubal up for auction? There IS something called "working the phones", FYI. And Dodgers' Sheehan & Dreyer are IN the majors; Freeland is in AAA... Phillies' Painter and Crawford are in AAA, Kerkering is in MLB since 2023. I did my homework thank you very much. Quote

This is not true. Please call Scott Boras for more information. Quote
papalawrence Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago The CBA will factor into this. Manfred is already publicly saying the owners want a salary cap. Strong chance of a lockout. Quote

Thank you for educating me on the concept of “working the phones.” If Harris “works the phones” with multiple teams regarding Skubal, I promise you that will become public in short order. I predict Harris will not “work the phones” to move Skubal this winter. Quote
Arlington Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I think they would rather go for it all in 2026 and receive a compensation pick as worse case scenario. I expect them to go all out on signing him this winter. He's money. Quote
tiger2022 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago They better go all in now and pick up some arms and a few bats. Skubal will be gone soon. Quote

The chances that Harris publicizes an auction for Skubal this winter is zero, +/- 0, and that goes double if we make the playoffs as currently projected. If we do end up trading him this winter—which would catch the media and public complete unaware—then in addition to multiple Pipeline-numbered prospects, the package would also have to include one major league starting pitcher, someone who projected to take a spot in next year’s rotation, as well as one hitter we can plug into the big league lineup on opening day next year. No way does Harris take five or six or however many lottery tickets alone for the guy who will be sporting back-to-back Cy Youngs. I agree it would be for multiple major league players with multiple years of control playing positions of need. But I expect Skubal stays all of 2026 and we settle for the camp pick and two playoff runs Quote
