Will Tigers Pony up for Skubal

Anyone have access to the Free Press article written last night that had 5 trade proposals for Skubal? I'm just curious what the offers were on that article and specifically, if they mentioned the Dodgers and if so what did they think?

Ryan Ermani mentioned this on Fox2 this morning, acting like it was "almost done".  I'm not saying that to give it legitimacy.  I'm saying it to point out what an absolute tool he is.  @AlaskanTigersFan this isn't meant as a jab at you at all. 

But a TV anchor with a large audience should absolutely know better than to flout internet rumors by one person.   So now random Fox 2 viewers who are casual sports fans think Tarik Skubal's about to get traded.

Oh I'm not saying it's a done deal. I messaged Jason Beck, Ken Rosenthal and Jon Heyman asking for confirmation. But regardless, this is fun to think about this. (P.S. - I'll let you know if any of them respond to lil ol me lol)

I play strat-o-matic baseball. So I follow minor leaguers quite a bit. I love the young guys. Very excited to see who we could possibly get in a return. But yes, we gucci 🙂

SI has got some good writers, but it's something you read in the waiting room when you go to the doctor.  It has no credibility if you are looking for reliable day to day news.

He's truly an idiot and representative of the new way of the media today.  He got roasted on social media for complaining about getting a parking ticket because.... he parked in a spot that required payment without paying but... I'm sure we've all seen this but there have been two players named Moyer in MLB.  Jamie and Ed Moyer.

Ed Moyer died Nov 18, 1962.

Jamie Moyer was born Nov 18, 1962.

We could easily send them Rogers (a vet for them, one year commitment, a mentor for young Will Smith).

Rushing is a LH'ed bat that has played both Catcher and 1B.

He'll get some playing time even if Dingler catches 120-140 games.

If there's two more pieces, I want their high-end LH'ed pitching prospect Jackson Ferris. And...? 5th guy can be sort of a "anything goes" guy to me.

Oh... and I still want $4.4 mill in 2027 International Signing Bonus Pool money...

I continue to be knocked out by the idea that so many Tiger fans will be disappointed to see Tarik Skubal suit up in a Tigers uniform on March 26.

I will be happy (and I expect him to be Tiger), but I'd like it even better if more talent was added to support him.

Exactly. It doesn't make sense to not add around Skubal but I guess it's still early in the off season.

I will be disappointed if Skubal suits up in a Tigers uniform on March 26 AND the Tigers have done very little to add to the roster.

I don't think 2026 Tigers will be significantly better if other pieces aren't added. I expect them to be a fringe playoff team at best. IF the Tigers aren't going to seriously try in 26, then trade him for a load of talent. If they are going to try, then keep him around.

I don't expect the Tigers to leave it all on the table this year to maximize Skubal's year here, but it wouldn't surprise me to see them not trade numbered prospects for established veterans. We did get pretty far the past two years without doing so.

Peoole forget that you don’t build your playoff team in December or March. It’s built in July and August.
