He has a lifetime OBP of .417 versus LHP. That makes him an effective pinch hitter versus lefties, but that is too narrow of a role in 2025. Edited May 24 by Tiger337 Quote

Asking him to come in and hit won't cut it. His defense would probably play right away but we need him comfortable and confident at the plate. Quote

One time i decide to go out here in deep southeren VA, the game on TV is of course the Braves. It is like other teams don't exist, especially if it is in the AL. So, i'm sitting in a bar watching Braves/Padres following tje Tigers on MLB gameday and with you Morons. Curious, how deep in Va are you Quote

His OBP has been been steadily dropping since the beginning of the season - down to 286 for May so far with a walk rate below 10%. Malloy isn't very useful when he doesn't walk more than that. I don't know the splits by month, but overall he is still .421 vs LHP/ .245 vs RHP. Quote

It throws me off because at the beginning of the game I am expecting to see their overall stats. Specific numbers like SLG versus off pitches is something they can do in the middle of the game to make a specific point. But how else can you place your prop bet in an informed manner? Quote

My numbers are overall, but those are the AB he is actually getting so I would have to say that is what matters. If Hinch has not been able to protect him from RHP well enough that his overall output stays good, I still don't see the use. Platoon splits are no help if you aren't being strictly platooned. gehringer_2 Posted May 24 Posted May 24 Typical baseball injustice - Jobe pitched better than at least a few of his starts but his winning streak ends anyway. Quote

I am not saying they should keep him on the roster, just that I don't consider him a black hole. If he could play in the field, it would be easier to deal with his extreme platoon split. Quote
