Current slump, yes.  Previous 140 games, this team was so balanced they didn’t have a losing streak greater than 3 games and had the best record in baseball.

When basically every hitter and pitcher is slumping at once, it will look bad.  The rotation overall is solid.  The hitters as a whole are solid.  The base running has been exceptional (can’t tell in this slump as they aren’t on base)

The bullpen has needed swing and miss all season (and last).

140 games says a lot more about who they are than the last 11.

They need a breakout, to stop pressing, and get back to working counts on offense, and pitchers not letting innings blow up.

They still need bullpen help (and yes, Bednar may have prevented Tommy K from being blown up immediately after it happened before.

I don't necessarily disagree with the overall tone.  I'm just not sure how fair it is to lump the second half of last season in when explaining this team.

They had 2 SPs for a large part of that back half, a fantastic bullpen, and relied on pitching chaos.  This year is a pretty significant difference in that aspect.  Heck, just looking at Flaherty alone is a contradiction of success over 140 vs the last 11 or 15 or whatever.

But they're not the best team in the league as they were for the 1st 3 months of this season.  They're not the worst team in the league as they have shown in the last two weeks.  They're somewhere in between, and simply going through a slump right now.

We all should have know that they Tigers were not as good as the one that played at a 100 win pace the first half.  Weaknesses have been exposed and they are going through a slump.  All the teams trying to catch them have been through this too.  The Indians went through a 0-10 stretch, the Twins 3-15, the Royals went 1-9.  The Tigers still have a 7-game lead and are still strong favorites to win the division over teams with similar warts.  I hope they add some good pieces even if it's only relievers.

Apollo 15 crew was the last to grace the cover of Time magazine.  There were two more landings after that.  The only thing that made the last landing special, aside from being the last, was it was the only nighttime launch.  It's amazing footage.  We had a similar experience a few years ago when Artemis I launched.  That system is comparable to a Saturn V.

The landings evolved to scientific missions and the public isn't interested in that.

Is this real?  I couldn't find a bsky account for Tony Paul but I only had a minute to look.

It's not Suarez.  They're getting Shelby Miller back.

You can see the capsule at the Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton.  Although it's stripped of parts.   That crew got in trouble for taking some stamps up to sell.  It was quite the scandal at the time.  They worked out a private deal with a collector to sell them after they all retired to set up college funds for their kids.

The Royals are apparently close to signing Lugo to a two year extension.  He is someone I was thinking would have been good for the Tigers to pursue in the off-season.  If it's really a two-year, that is a bargain.

Makes him more valuable as trade bait?

I liked him as an option last offseason.  Imagine him rather than Maeda?

He got the Jack Flaherty deal...$20 million each in '26 and '27, $ 3 mil signing bonus and $3 million buyout before '28.

Ironic if we trade a prospect who goes on to mash for Suarez who was probably our worst prospect trade ever... yeah I know, Smoltz.  But Smoltz wasn't a top prospect at the time and Doyle delivered.

Not me! I was equipped with my Major Matt Mason action figure and moon buggy to follow the Apollo action!

Emmanuel Clase placed on paid leave due to gambling issues. He's out until August 31st the earliest.

Not great.  One less closer available this deadline. And prevents the Guardians from potentially moving another reliever, ie Smith, probably keeping them both for the rest of the season.

They weren’t going to trade either.  It made sense when they were 13.5 out a few weeks ago.  Now at 8 games, they are more apt to buy than sell at this point.

Cleveland Guardians All-Star closer Emmanuel Clase has been placed on non-disciplinary paid leave as part of a Major League Baseball investigation into sports betting. Clase becomes the second Guardians pitcher to be placed on leave in connection with a sports gambling probe.
