IdahoBert Posted Monday at 05:25 PM Posted Monday at 05:25 PM I would be so mortified if stuff like this were happening to my team. I mean, I would be eviscerated. Quote
romad1 Posted Monday at 05:32 PM Posted Monday at 05:32 PM Evan Petzhold has an interesting article about the possible trade pieces Detroit Tigers trade rumors: Who would be in Eugenio Suárez package? Quote

MLB said Marcano placed 387 baseball bets totaling more than $150,000 with a legal sportsbook in 2022 and 2023. Athletics pitcher Michael Kelly and three minor leaguers — San Diego pitcher Jay Groome, Arizona pitcher Andrew Saalfrank and Philadelphia infielder José Rodríguez — received one-year suspensions. Umpire Pat Hoberg was fired by Major League Baseball in February for sharing his legal sports gambling accounts with a friend who bet on baseball games, and for intentionally deleting electronic messages pertinent to the league’s investigation.” Quote

And prevents the Guardians from potentially moving another reliever, ie Smith, probably keeping them both for the rest of the season. Zero chance Clase was coming here even if Cleveland had him on the block, which itself I doubt. Quote

IdahoBert Posted Monday at 06:00 PM Posted Monday at 06:00 PM This whole Emmanuel Clase thing is deeply troubling. He’s an all-star for God’s sake. This isn’t like somebody I never heard of. Not that I’ve heard of everybody but, darn. Accusations like this are deeply dispiriting. Quote

IdahoBert Posted Monday at 06:07 PM Posted Monday at 06:07 PM If I were a Cleveland player, I would be so furious about this stuff. Fellow players undermining their performance to undermine the team. I doubt that stuff like this makes for a very good clubhouse atmosphere. Quote

Now, they are actively promoting and encouraging gambling. It puts the integrity of the game in jeopardfy even if nobody is doing anything wrong. 1 Quote

I definitely had my suspicions about the past week as anyone who experiences the inexplicable would. You have to be worried if its wrestling or are they putting their fingers on the scale? It would be in the best interests of MLB if the AL Central had an actual race? Quote
oblong Posted Monday at 07:04 PM Posted Monday at 07:04 PM I'd guess these are for "harmless" bets like certain pitches being balls. Quote

Didn’t think he’d come to the Tigers, but one less elite closer on the trading block could drive the price up for the few remaining. The silver lining is that the Guardians get screwed. Quote
kdog Posted Monday at 07:48 PM Posted Monday at 07:48 PM Paddack is a jag who has had tommy john surgery..i guess he can be a back end starter to an extent. Quote

Paddack was not one of them. Paddack might be somebody they could fix, but he doesn't seem to address any immediate problem. Perhaps, they think he can work as a reliever? The flipside is I wonder if they start losing games from losing one of their top two relievers that would knock them out of wild card contention. Too close to the deadline for the team to decide what the impact of losing Clase will have... But for what it's worth, if I were the Tigers I'd have more interest in Cade Smith anyways... Not that there was any chance of that happenin'... Quote
kdog Posted Monday at 07:56 PM Posted Monday at 07:56 PM He's a warm body...better option than Montero, SGL, and likely Melton. Quote
