On that note you don't appreciate how tall many major leaguers are until you are up close to them. I remember the first time I had on deck seats as an adult like 20 some years ago it was against the Yankees and it blew me away how tall Derek Jeter actually looked when he was standing just a few feet from me.

I saw Isiah Thomas once and he was huge. He looked like a little guy during a game...

I am struck by this because I’ve met enough big leaguers to expect them all to be massive, and then you meet Zach McKinstry, and he’s normal size!

I remember seeing Bob Probert walking through the concourse at JLA during one of the early Wingsfest, or whatever it was called, and being surprised at how normal he looked.

I was taller than Eric Hasse.

I was at the next urinal to Wayne Gretzky when I was 14 and he wasn’t too much bigger (taller) than me.

I met Mario Lemieux at the Super Bowl XL tailgate party and he was MASSIVE. Like legit couldn't believe how solid he was. Couldn't imagine trying to check him.

Hockey was a little late to the party in terms of big athletes, though they've caught up now.  I remember Frank Mahovlech was considered a big guy in his day. 6'0"

Royals lose again, they are 10.5 back and are as close to the last place White Sox as they are to us.

They were very obviously frauds last year, and for some reason everybody thought they'd be contenders for the foreseeable future.

Carlos Peña was telling us how impressed he was with the Royals after that series in KC and he thought the Tigers really had to beware of them. And you know the Royals gave us some scares in that series. But they’ve really been skidding lately.

Looking at the remaining schedule, the Tigers don't leave the Eastern Time Zone until after the break where they open the 2nd half at Texas. Aside from that they only play 1 series west of KC all season and that is 3 games against the A's at the end of August.
