There was no way this was going to work forever. It has to be really hard for Hinch. One game, a relief pitcher is lights out and the next time out he stinks. Quote
gehringer_2 Posted June 21 Posted June 21 Keith got a center cut fastball to hit on the third pitch and fouled it off. /..sigh.../ Quote
Sports_Freak Posted June 21 Posted June 21 I read in the Free Press this morning that Olson had a pretty good rehab start. He even threw a few changeups. Hinch says he'll need at least one more start. Quote
SoCalTiger Posted June 21 Posted June 21 Well, a slump was inevitable, but that doesn’t make it any more pleasurable. Hope they can pull out of it quickly and not give back too much ground, but it is a long long season. Quote

Get past it, get back to Detroit, take the next two home series against Oakland and Minnesota. 1 Quote

Arlington Posted June 21 Posted June 21 The whole division has gone kaput. Just a few weeks ago there were 4 teams solidly above 500 and at one point held all three wild cards. Only the Tigers have been able to maintain winning play until we came to this dark corner. Quote
Tenacious D Posted June 21 Posted June 21 When does Skubal pitch again? And can we go to a 4-man rotation? Quote
Sports_Freak Posted June 21 Posted June 21 Is the box score wrong? It says Hurter was charged with 4 runs, all unearned. But no Tiger errors. Was it because of Rogers passed ball on a strike 3? Quote
Sports_Freak Posted June 21 Posted June 21 Just now, Tenacious D said: When does Skubal pitch again? And can we go to a 4-man rotation? We need to get Flaherty straightened out and Olson back. Is there any help down on the farm? I don't see Harris trading any of our top prospects for quality arms but maybe he will? Quote

Klondike Posted June 21 Posted June 21 I guess we can coast for awhile, considering the division is a pile of £¥¡¿. Just sit back and enjoy the ride. Quote

I guess I've never noticed unearned run(s) without there being an error(s). He still gets the loss though, I really hope Hinch gives up using a "starter." Our bullpen arms are just too unpredictable. gehringer_2 Posted June 21 Posted June 21 SGL gave up 3 HR, all on 2 strike counts, two on FB. The pitch Jansen hit was pretty decent, change-up almost out of the zone down. Pitch to Caminero was a center cut mistake. It's always a question with these guys with good secondary stuff - is the FB good enough that when they throw it's not automatically hard contact. Quote

I suppose it's not that odd to consider a passed ball an error for scoring purposes. A PB is just a catcher's error, it's just given a class of its own. I guess the question is why is it its own classification? Edited June 21 by gehringer_2 Quote
gehringer_2 Posted June 21 Posted June 21 They got 6 1/3 out of SGL, That was a victory of sorts in itself. Quote
