I don't trust Manfred at all. It means so little to me I had no idea the AL had dominated the last dozen or so contests. In fact, I can’t remember watching one since 1983. I must have, but I honestly have no memory of it. Quote

I used to like watching the games when the leagues were more separate, but now I just don't care. I followed the boxscore throughout the night to see how the Tigers were doing. Quote
papalawrence Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago During the 70s the all-star game was as big as Christmas for me. I remember Fidrych starting the game in '76. Leflore and Staub were also in that game. I agree that interleague play has taken away a lot of its luster 2 Quote

casimir Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago I don't really care how they ended the game after 9. I didn't last that long anyway. Was it just me or were the commercial time outs in between innings and pitching changes about double in length from a regular season game? Good grief, that annoyed me. Quote

Motor City Sonics Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Wow, I didn't watch, but all the Tigers were all pretty awful. But that's fine. We'll save it for games that actually count. Quote

I did notice that in the truck commercial they kept showing that one of the good old boys with a truck had a Tigers cap on. Quote
IdahoBert Posted 12 hours ago Author Posted 12 hours ago It turns out that the NL actually did win this wiffle ball d*ck measuring contest. Quote
Tigeraholic1 Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Old guy moment..... They ruined the All-Star game the same way the ruined the HR Derby. 1 Quote
1776 Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago (edited) Before and after becoming an old guy, I have never found the HR derby to be the least bit entertaining. And I can’t even recall the last time I watched an AS Game. Edited 11 hours ago by 1776 Quote
davidsb623 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago I use to LOVE the all-star game but as many have said, it has lost it's luster with the amount of interleague we play now. Jonas brothers mid game song - worthless waste of time. I could not believe all that EXTRA CRAP going on as they were introducing the teams and especially the starting line ups. Total BS. Manfred should be ashamed and embarrassed. 2 Quote
Arlington Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Just struck me how many All-Star position players were once Cubs prospects. Eight in total and one even plays for the Cubs. Move Javy back to short and they have the field covered. Pete Crow‑Armstrong Current Cub Kyle Schwarber Willson Contreras Javier Báez Michael Busch Isaac Paredes Jorge Soler Gleyber Torres You can add McKinstry too as he once played like a minor leaguer for the Cubs. 1 Quote
IdahoBert Posted 11 hours ago Author Posted 11 hours ago By the joviality of the players during the home run derby finish, it was evident that they don’t take this game too seriously, that it is merely an exhibition game, and that there’s no real skin in this game. The idea of deciding something like this in such a casual manner, appalled me. But in point of fact, it’s pretty insignificant. My son who is 50 years younger than me told me to lighten up, that it was “fun.” I just remember when the All-Star Game was as serious as war, when important stakes were involved, and it wasn’t merely “fun.“. Heck, it might as well just be a wrestling match. I guess my son is right, and it is just a wrestling match. Quote

It lasted way too long for glorified batting practice. Quote
IdahoBert Posted 11 hours ago Author Posted 11 hours ago Time to move on. The real world that actually matters begins Friday. Quote

How did Skuball become such trash in one week? Scott Harris should also DFA somebody to send a message to this team. Tigers are getting way too comfortable believe the hype. I'm assuming this is sarcasm or a schtick? If not, don't you usually post under the moniker "TP Fan" on Lions game threads? Quote
