You could argue last night's runs were in garbage time. Just an utter collapse of every hitter.

I knew I felt something was amiss last Friday. With Cleveland going ten in their last twelve, it’s a good thing we put so many games in the bank.

During the radio broadcast, Dan and Dan were talking about a 6-11 swoon the ‘84 team had in August, during which the team was booed at home. I don’t know how the current swoon relates to the one from 41 years ago, but considering where each team was/is in its development curve, this seems more likely to be a massive correction. I’m not saying I believe it is for sure, but that is certainly within the range of outcomes.

usually "now playing" on android catches it, but Shazam usually gets it if not. though I think there have been a couple times recently when Shazam didn't do it, either, which could be the session/generated stuff you suspect.

I honestly don’t think they’re as bad as they’ve been lately but they’re certainly not a .667 team.

I agree. Their offense jumped from bottom quadrant to top quadrant and will likely settle more mid. Steve Phillips sort of called this. But hey, this is the time to slump. Get it back on course heading into the home stretch and post season.

But if you extended this recent streak over a full season, they would probably be the worse team in all of baseball history,  all of it, going back to even the Cleveland Spiders.

Listening to MLB radio this morning, and they had a segment on the Tigers.  Phillips says he wants them to do well, but thinks this is a correction and that they lack a superstar in everyday lineup to carry them.  Scruggs and the two folks behind the boards were ripping him for that take and saying every team has gone thru this this year.  That's pretty much true, but it's easier to say from a distance than when you're emotionally tied to a team.  I think the truth is in between.  Surely not this bad, but it's fair to say they do not have a top 5 roster at this time.

Edit: one more thing, I think too many of the national media gloss over the current woes too much for my taste.  Again, maybe it's cos I'm too close to it.

Really good point.  I was thinking recently that he's really only had one good stretch so far in his young career.
