The Ronz Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Since no Tigers pitcher pitched with the lead I assume Skubal was awarded the win based on a "scorer's decision"? Quote
Crazy Cat Gentleman Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago yeah, Vest was the last pitcher of the night, so he got it. Quote

The Ronz Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago That's what I thought! I couldn't find a box score with the correct information. Quote
lordstanley Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago The slumping Milwaukee Brewers just got swept by the Cubs in a doubleheader and have now lost 3 of their past 4 games. Only the 2nd time since the 4th of July that they've lost consecutive games. They're 5 games ahead of the Tigers for best record in baseball. Quote
Sports_Freak Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Everybody is talking about the play at the plate but don't forget the Perez catch in CF. The 2nd inning, I think. 2 Quote

Everybody rests. I like Detroit to win tomorrow afternoon. Quote

Sadly, probably an easy day tomorrow for Toronto. They go against Johan Oviedo who has thrown exactly one inning since coming off the DL from his TJ surgery last year. It's shapes up as a bullpen day for Pit with Oviedo as opener. Quote

lordstanley Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Guardians lose, thanks Arizona. The Tigers’ lead is now 9.0 games over KC and 9.5 games over Cleveland. The Tigers’ magic number on both teams is 27. Quote
lordstanley Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago (edited) I know some people thought that complaints earlier in the season about empty seats behind home plate were silly, but c'mon, the crowd cheering the ball four added to the occasion. As did the mist. Edited 9 hours ago by lordstanley 2 Quote
RedRamage Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago How fitting is it that in a extra innings game with zero runs that it ends of a walk? Quote

Both pitched a complete game. The Tigers drew over 29,000 to Briggs Stadium on a random Friday night in August to see two sub-.500 teams battle it out. That’s post-war and post-Depression exuberance for you. As with last night’s game, this game featured an outfield assist at the plate, albeit in the sixth inning for this game, and with a bit of a rundown between home and third. Here’s a “replay” of the game if you’re interested in seeing that kind of thing: http://backtobaseball.com/playballregularseason.php?page=0&IDindex=DET194808060 1 Quote

If your team loses, whatever pitchers gave up the most runs gets the loss. TBH, the idea that a particular run is a 'winning run' or that when it is scored matters has never made any sense in baseball. Edited 3 hours ago by gehringer_2 Quote
