Wow. It’s funny how a second can matter. How many times does the clock stop a second early or late and no one bats an eye?

A tie is a win for the Lions. They’re now alone in 1st, and if they beat Dallas at home in December, they will have two common opponent victories over Green Bay, including Cleveland.

Yeah. As long as we beat Green Bay on Thanksgiving.

After all that **** that Parsons was talking, the oh-so-great Green Bay defense gave up 40 points.

Parsons was barely a factor. Three tackles, only one solo, and 1 “sack” that might get changed in a postgame stat review. It came late and Dak at least got back to the line of scrimmage. Might have gained a half yard.

Injuries can change things in a hurry, but a healthy Lions D won't be leaving the middle of the field open for Love.

These teams have gone in two polar opposite directions since week one. Obviously that’s not to say anything is a given. Lots of time until Thanksgiving and anything can happen in 60 minutes of football.

But who would have expected to be alone in 1st in week 4 after watching that game at Lambeau??

Nothing more anti climactic than an NFL game ending in a tie

That was anti-climatic? Some people are hard to please. Ties shouldn’t be such a big deal. Play the time allotted then move on. Who cares about a game in September not ending in a tie? And please don’t start adding stupid ass rules to avoid a tie. Just move on to next week.

Anti-climactic would be if, like in hockey, the Cowboys had won in OT but Green Bay was granted half a win anyways.

Yep. I hate shootout too, fyi.

This is a funny little footnote. (emphasis mine)

NFL Research: The Packers-Cowboys 40-40 tie is the second-highest-scoring tie in NFL history, trailing only a 43-43 stalemate between the Oakland Raiders and Boston Patriots in Week 6, 1964. With the end result for the host Cowboys, teams with 40 or more points and no turnovers at home, including the playoffs, are now 300-0-1 all time in the Super Bowl era.

Common opponent victories aren’t likely to matter now since it’s unlikely the Lions and Packers end up tied in the standings now.

And when the Lions lose to a team, they dish out payback. We'll see if that holds up when we play Washington. A little revenge is in order.

Yeah if it's not a career ender at the very least he isn't going to be the same player, as much as it sucked losing Hutch last year this is an example of how it could have been so much worse and we were pretty fortunate that it was "only" a broken bone.

IIRC my personal trainer stuff correctly..A dislocated knee is just about the worst injury a player can have..usually rips all the tendons and ligaments.  Be shocked if he comes back given his age

I don't love ties in the NFL, but I also don't want a bunch of "non-football rules" put in places to try and avoid them... like I don't want each team to start at the 20 and need to score and need to go for two points or whatever. So I get what you're saying here about not adding stupid rules.

That said, I think a tie is very anti-climatic. Not one wants a tie, no one is rooting for a game to end in a tie. Ties just feel weird and unfulfilling. But that's okay. It's alright that it can have an unfulfilling feeling. They're rare enough that I don't think we need to jump through hoops to avoid them, and the NFL has a way to deal with it in the standings, so that's not a problem either.

Ties are unfulfilling, and that's okay.

idk, that game was wild. just because there wasn’t a winner doesn’t mean it wasn’t.

I think we put too much emphasis on winning and losing. That game was entertaining as hell.

Of course fans want a specific team to win. I wanted Dallas to win for multiple reasons. But entertainment was not one of them. The outcome of that game was fine by me. I will say on the last play of the game GB fans were definitely rooting for a tie.
