Jordan Love is just stupid lucky. Just throw the ball up in the air for your guys to come down with it.

He has thrown a couple of moon balls that I like to think Kerby would have come down with.

Watching Sunday Night Football and the NFL said Jonnu Smith did not make a catch and dropped the 2 point conversion. Yet, the NFL said this was a catch and didn't bother invoking replay assist to review it. I'll be comparing every single play that looks like a catch, but is ruled not a catch for the rest of the year, to this play. The NFL thinks this is a catch, but Jonnu Smith didn't make a football move, so his 2 point conversion was not a catch.

I read that Ryan Poles has drafted 29 players and has yet to draft a Pro Bowler. Keep in mind the Bears had the #1 pick in back to back years. Holmes has made 26 picks and has drafted 6 Pro Bowlers. That does not include Joseph who was an all-pro but not Pro Bowler. McNeil was on his way to a Pro Bowl before injury, and Jack Campbell looks like a Pro Bowler this year. That’s 9 potential Pro Bowlers.

I think Campbell’s time as interim HC in Miami is understated as it relates to his success here.

I also wonder how much his time as assistant head coach in NO helped. Campbell was never an OC or a DC, but he had a stretch as an interim HC and 5 years as an assistant HC.

Now, obviously I'm just some old dude on the internet, not a member of any NFL front office and certainly not an owner. But I wonder sometimes if teams are too often swayed by the success an OC or DC has. The skills to run an offense or a defense obviously have some overlap with running a full NFL team, but there's also lots and lots of parts that don't overlap.

Now of course the odd thing here is that AG seemed like the type of guy who had some of those skill that an HC needs (aka the whole: "Leader of Men" thing).

Obviously Holmes has a great eye for talent but I do think there’s more to it when getting players to the Probowl. How many years did the Lions have top picks and very few probowlers. It seems to me that successful teams that bring in new players thru the draft have an easier time of developing players then the teams that might bring in more athletically gifted players to bad situations.

The key is really developing an entire culture of winning and forcing players to get on board or move from the teams expectations. People talk about the parity of winning in the NFL but to me it seems like there’s a group of 7-10 organizations that are always drafting lower and always winning for decades it seems. Are the Lions going to become one of those? Who knows and the next few years are going to be very telling for that as our players get more expensive/less effective and need to be replaced.

What Holmes and his staff along with Campbell have done in such a short time is truly remarkable. I look forward to seeing how they go about maintaining this momentum.

I don't know if I'm happier that Rodgers is losing or that any team that would wear a uniform as ugly as whatever the Steelers are wearing is.

As a reformed Steelers fan I’m sure Mr Rooney Sr is turning in his grave.
They look like something originally rejected by The Blue Man Group

I didn't wanna be the fashion police but I couldn't agree more.

I always think a head coach is given too much credit or too much blame. A good head coach needs a good GM to get him the talent he needs to be successful. He also needs a competent  OC and DC. As well as special teams coach. Without all of this, a coach will have a hard time being successful. He may get the most out of his players but it may not be enough.

The NFL is fixed.  The NFL is rigged.

We been had, we been took.  We been hoodwinked, we been bamboozled.

This should be GOOD for the Lions.

The Lions are the team that brings the most fans to road games.

The Lions get tremendous ratings when they are in spotlight games.

A lot of people would love to see the Lions go to the Super Bowl.  Finally.

I think a lot of people would love that for the Browns, but the Browns get in their own way too much.

But make no mistake.   There is no even playing field in this game.

The research must show that certain teams winning means more money.

But this is just a shade more legit than wrestling.

That Eagles-Giants game.   The fix was in.

Also, on a more serious Hendrickson note… he’s hurt. He has a hip injury and hasn’t been the same this year. I think he missed his first game in a few years last week.

I’m not saying don’t do it. I believe in Holmes. But I don’t think he would be the explosive addition many would expect.

Tater is going to be so pissed when this team adds Logan Wilson.

I don't know why we need a MLB. I don't know why we would need a LB period. I trust Holmes enough to not get mad if he trades for anyone or doesn't make a move at all. But man, Trey would put us over the top.

Hahaha I was just teasing you about your two or three years-running love for Hendrickson. Logan Wilson would make no sense.

If they make the move I will be happy that you are happy. 😆

Yes, I love Hendrickson as a player and the idea of adding a dynamic pass rusher. More than that though, I want to act now while our Super Bowl window is open and go all in for, at minimum, making a Super Bowl. In the NFL your Super Bowl window can close as fast as it opens. Getting a guy like Hendrickson is taking a big swing for sure, but if it works, it's the kind of move that can make you the best team in the NFC and get you to a Super Bowl. We might not even need to make a splashy move and add a guy like Hendrickson. But it's a chance I'm willing and want to take.

What would you rather have if given the choice: next year's first round pick or a player of Trey Hendrickson's caliber, knowing you might not be able to resign him, but having increased odds to make a Super Bowl?

I ask this question because we're likely giving up a 1st if we get a Hendrickson-caliber player.
