Chopper Posted October 9 Posted October 9 I finally got used to Comerica Park's generic name and now there looks to be a future name change as Fifth Third Bancorp announced Monday it will acquire Comerica Inc. I understand the premise behind the change but can't we just go back to Tiger Stadium? This kinda sucks. I never thought I would say that about changing the name of Comerica park. I know, I know. First world problems. 😐 Quote
theroundsquare Posted October 9 Posted October 9 i suggest 1 and 2/3 park. i mean, let's cut the bull**** Quote
RedRamage Posted October 9 Posted October 9 What we need is for Ford to talk over the name rights. But obviously they wouldn't use the Ford name as Ford Field already exists. So instead they'd use their luxury brand, and so it'd become: Lincoln Park 3 Quote

RedRamage Posted October 9 Posted October 9 While I think most of us would prefer to go back to yester year and just name it Tiger Stadium or Tiger Park or something like that, those days are long gone. So, purely for the discussion, what brands/companies would you find acceptable? The "rules" for the discussion are these: 1. The company has to be big enough to reasonably be able to afford naming rights. We're not gonna have Bob's Tow Truck Stadium. 2. The company has to be one that might reasonably be considered by Tiger's ownership. So we're not going to have *orn*ub Park (or Papa John's Stadium for that matter either). So, given those rules what options do you have? Meijer Park? GM Stadium? Quote

I dread the day when they start selling naming rights to parts of the stadium: "Welcome back to Sam Bernstein Field inside 5/3 Bank Ballpark where Will Vest has just come out of the BelleTire Bullpen and finished his warmup tosses on Little Ceaser's Mound. As he prepares to pitch Rodriguez steps into the Wallside Windows Batters Box and the 9th inning, brought to you be Meijer, is underway!" 1 Quote

Sports_Freak Posted October 9 Posted October 9 It's funny how the names of a stadium can change but old timers don't change. My late father always called Tiger Stadium....Briggs Stadium. He grew up a mile away from Briggs Stadium and in his mind...it was always Briggs Stadium, not Tiger Stadium. Any time I corrected him, he would just smile and say "yeah, OK" So to us new generation of old timers, it'll always be Comerica Park. Go ahead, rename it and correct us when we call it Comerica. Yeah, OK. 😆 1 Quote

He said "Why are you watching that, they already know who's going to win. It's all fixed." I just told him he was crazy...but if he were still around to see all of this legal gambling? Wow, there would be no convincing him that it isn't all rigged. He looked at all of sports like we look at big time wrestling. Entertaining but all fake. Quote
lordstanley Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Would this new name ensure that every Tigers player gives 167% effort in every game? 2 Quote

I think 1-800-Call-Sam Stadium has a nice ring to it. 😒 1 1 Quote
