The barley legal type? WTF does that even mean? A 15 year old girl is still a child and what Epstein did is still child abuse. My word, the simping going on for Trump and Epstein is disgraceful.

This is disgusting

Remember when we all thought Megyn was crossing over into ranged thinking? Ah, good times ...

This, from the article:

Quote

MEGYN KELLY (HOST): As for Epstein, I've said this before, but just as a reminder, I do know somebody very, very close to this case who is in a position to know virtually everything. Not everything, but virtually everything. And this person has told me from the start years and years ago that Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile. This is this person's view, who was there for a lot of this, but that he was into the barely legal type. Like, he liked 15-year-old girls. And I realized this is disgusting. I'm definitely not trying to make an excuse for this. I'm just giving you facts, that he wasn't into, like, 8-year-olds. But he liked the very young teen types that could pass for even younger than they were, but would look legal to a passerby.

And that is what I believed, and that is what I reliably was told for many years. And it wasn't until we heard from Pam Bondi that they had tens of thousands of videos of alleged — forgive me, they used to call it kiddie porn, now they call it child sexual abuse material — on his computer that for the first time, I thought, oh, no, he was an actual pedophile. I mean, only a pedophile gets off on young children abuse videos. She's never clarified it, I don't know whether it's true. I have to be honest, I don't really trust Pam Bondi's word on the Epstein matters anymore.

BATYA UNGAR-SARGON (GUEST): Or anything else.

KELLY: Yeah, so I don't know what's true about him, but we have yet to see anybody come forward and say I was under 10, I was under 14 when I first came within his purview. You can say that's a distinction without a difference. I think there is a difference. There's a difference between a 15-year-old and a 5-year-old, you know?

UNGAR-SARGON: Yeah.

KELLY: Whatever. It's sick. Every time we start talking about Epstein, it makes your skin crawl. You're right. The whole thing is just disgusting.

OK, so a couple things:

  • Newsflash, Megyn: 15 years old is not "barely legal".
  • Also, newsflash: even when rhetorically comparing it to five or eight or ten or even "under 14", 15 years old is still not OK.
  • I have trouble seeing how she is going to get out of this minefield unscathed, even in MAGA world.

Remember Kelly is the one who took down Roger Ailes and Bill O’Reilly for sexual harassment.

She cashed out and pulled the ladder up behind her.
the best part about the C word is it has meaning.  She’s one.

Wasn't it Gretchen Carlson who took down Roger Ailes?

and before you end it early as she sort of trails away and starts to say "but it's bad, blah blah blah" she closes it with somethin really horrific. So, no this wasn't an original misquote or mistakenly saying the wrong thing.  She summed up her point quite well with the final statement in this clip.  And it's really bad.

And the snotty, dismissive look on her face as she says that last part—something that can't come across in print—is a real clincher for your point.

Once again, the worst offenders in dismissing the trauma of rape of a girl.... are often women.

I do know that in some states that there are laws that distinguish between rape of children under a certain age (in MA, it 's 14).

This whole thing makes me alternating between being sick, and wanting to hurt anybody who dares to abuse a child.

A difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old. So if her 15 year old daughter came home and told mom she was sexually abused or raped, Kelly's response would be what? "Meh, you're 15 sweetheart, it's not like you're still 5." JUST ****ING WOW!!!!!!!

why would a person need to establish a different 'degree' of rape?  A person who rapes a 14 year old girl is just as evil as one who rapes a 5 year old girl and their punishments should be equal.  To suggest otherwise introduces an element of "Well you can see why they'd do it... they look almost grown... cut them some slack".   That's what it is.

I agree. I don't know why states have these laws. Unfortunately the thinking is probably exactly what you just said. 😞

Sadly it looks like that's how Kelly thinks also.

As sick as it is, that is exactly how some parents react. It's not uncommon at all for a mother to stay with a man who rapes her own daughter-she either chooses not to believe it or blames her daughter.

I don't understand people. I think I don't want to understand people.
