I am pulling SO FEAKING HARD for the Dodgers to go all-in and trade us Sirota for Skubal. I know it's the minors and his numbers will change once he gets to MLB... But a career (in the minors) OBP of .465 and right now he's in AA with an OBP of .470...?!?!?! Crazy!!! I can easily imagine what a top 5 lineup of Clark (L), Sirota (R), McGonigle (L), Dingler (R) and Greene (L) would do to major league pitching on a DAILY basis...! Maybe even add in Valencia (R) at DH... On THAT basis (getting Sirota and slotting him in our MLB lineup once he gets to Detroit), the lineup could easily afford lower BA/OBP's from Tork and Carpenter... they would just be extending the lineup. DANGEROUSLY HOT!!! (Don't let the Tigers get hot...) Quote

I like the idea of Sirota, but given our dearth of pitching prospects, I’d like to get Sheehan, too. Quote

DH- Valencia/Carpenter 8.) 3B- Keith 9.) 2B- Lee/Anderson with Meadows as the bench OF this team is steamrolling this division for years Quote

Reese and Will being able to come back from their injuries would be huge, though probably can’t be counted on. Next year’s rotation will likely be: Valdez Melton Jobe Free Agent/trade acquisition Montero Reese, Madden, Sears, GSL and Ben Jacobs in the mix. Conservatively, about $100M will be leaving the payroll after this season, giving Harris some flexibility in free agency and trade to upgrade key areas. Quote

I’m not sure what Olson’s future holds for him. Maybe a move to the bullpen is best for his longevity. Can he be a multiple inning guy out of the bullpen, maybe going through a lineup once? Gipson-Long isn’t pitching all that well in Toledo. He hasn’t been brought up with all of the other pitching staff moves this season. It seems like that’s the writing on the wall. Jacobs in the mix seems a stretch given his control issues in A and A+ ball. Quote
Tiger337 Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Who steps in when three of the five rotation guys get injured? This is a question every team needs to answer now. Quote

It is interesting to think about. But it just rarely works out this way. I think I’m done with counting on Carpenter for much. Too brittle, considered nothing more than a platoon player (justified or not), defense is suspect. I really would like a good defensive OF for once. I’m worried about Greene aging and heading towards a future role as DH sooner than later. in fact, the trio of Greene, Carpenter, and Torkleson are all free agents after 2028. I don’t know that they’ll all still be Tigers at that point. Quote

SoCalTiger Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Must build a bullpen. Vey hard but can't win without it especially in the current era of 5 inning starting pitching. Quote

Between a lost year of wages and seniority and the harm to the game it would be a disaster for them. The owners would suffer too but they would have a chance long term to recoup their losses. Quote
