if youre keeping ausar AND duren, how can you think holland is a big part of your future?  they cant all play together.

and we trust trajan to draft a good player this year?  holland was the #5 pick in the draft!  albeit in one of the worst drafts ever.

A lot of fans still believe Holland will develop a three point shot.

I think this summer might be his peak value if he doesn't develop one. Another season of sub 30% from three and no minutes in the playoffs plus coming up on extension time. His value will start to drop.

pro: he's only 21.  he's a willing defender.  very active.

con: cant shoot.  does dumb crap all the time.  cant handle the ball.  has no self creation.  little offensive upside.  makes top 5 money.

he really has been one of the worst players out of that entire draft.  not risachier bad, but bad.

clingan, edey, even buzelis would have been a better pick.  and if we had taken clignan like a lot of people wanted, we could be rid of duren now.

It's impossible to judge him since he's only gotten limited opportunity so I don't know how anyone can say two years out that he's one of the worst players in the draft. The other guys you mentioned are on way worse teams and got more opportunity. The biggest issue with the Holland pick is that he's redundant on this roster with Ausar in the starting lineup so unless he develops that three point shot he'll never got a starting opportunity here but I do feel he has the ability to start somewhere.

In any event, including him in a deal for Herro isn't the best way to maximize his value. It's likely that this is the highest his value will be because he's unlikely to get an opportunity with the Pistons so Langdon would be wise to trade him this offseason in a bigger package for a better player than Herro.

Look at the bright side, at least the Pistons didn't sign Trae Young for 4 years $212m so no matter what the Pistons do it could be a lot worse.

Relevant to the Pistons.

Bulls are now out on Duren.

Brooklyn still has cap space, but they used up a chunk.  They had about $47 million according to Keith Smith.  Randle makes about $10 million more than Claxton, so they are down to $37 million.  The #28 pick is set to make $2.5 million this year, so that takes them down to $34.5 million.  Certainly enough to make Duren an offer, but it takes away their ability to make a massive max offer.  And honestly, an offer starting at $34 million would be matched pretty fast by Detroit so I doubt they would even attempt it.

it seems to take Herro off the table.

These things have a tendency to expand since they won't be officially signed off on for another 2 weeks. We aren't out of the woods just yet.

Bad. I wanted him in Boston to avoid Herro. But I suppose that also makes Boston a better team.

I guess there is a chance Milwaukee keeps Herro. They don't control their draft picks for about 4 years. So there is no incentive to tank.

Did the Heat catch or pass Detroit?

I suppose they might have caught them.  Big difference is Miami doesn't have much more they can do to improve.  I think Detroit still has things they can do.

I think Herro and Jaquez are moved on for more young prospects/draft capital.  Ware they probably will give some run to see if he can take a step up.

Like trade with the Bucks for Tyler Herro.  😂

On the court, Powell seems to be an equal 3pt shooter and scorer to Herro. He also seems like he'll get attacked less come playoff time, whereas Herro strikes me as another Duncan Robinson in-terms of how teams will attack him defensively. From a financial perspective, their cap hit seems pretty similar. It clearly didn't work for Miami having bother, though that team might have had other, larger problems. Would we be better off and better positioned financially landing Powell than Hero? If the choice was Powell or Herro for Trajan, who do you give the nod to?

I don't think it would be an either/or type situation.  They could get both if they wanted to.

I like Powell a lot more than Herro.  But both have serious injury concerns.  Doesn't matter how good a player is if he is on the bench in street clothes.

Would that mean the end of Harris?  I might do it just for that reason.  If the plan is to bring back Harris as a starter and Portis off the bench, yuck.

Really good shooter, really bad defender.
