I don't believe it either.  Especially if you think Kawhi has the dirt on Ballmer.  No way can they send him somewhere like Detroit if Kawhi knows where the bodies are buried.

i hope we didnt trade away stew to chase the pipe dream of kawahi leonard.

or just to sign norm powell or trade for herro.

murphy, lauri....heck even paul george.

Outside of Cade, the Pistons didn't have a lot of valuable assets. Even the future draft picks don't amount to much since they project to be in the 20s.

The players you listed are probably the types available for what Detroit has to offer

Ideally.  They open up the Memphis trade to include Denver and do an S&T for Watson.  Send Denver a couple of first round picks for him, and you have your SG for the next decade.

Watson and Ausar would terrorize opponents perimeter players.  He hits the three at 41% last season.  Not a lot of creation, but people are idiots who keep calling for that.  With a great passer like Cade you don't need a second PG type, you need guys who can finish plays and Watson fits that, plus he plays defense.

Then you get to work on finding the PF.  No clue who that would be.  Not a ton of options at that spot right now.  People are talking about Tari Eason.  OK 3PT shooter and a plus defender, but a bad injury history.  I suppose it would depend on the price.

1sts always have value. Orlando traded for Bane with mostly 1sts going the other way so the Pistons can make a bigger trade if Langdon is willing to part with a chunk of his assets which I don't think he will. It will be a Powell signing, I'll bet anything on it.

An average player on a terrible contract isn't value.

I wonder if the radio silence on Duren is a good thing.  Maybe it means they are not just bending over and giving him exactly what he wants.  Maybe they have set a number and told him to go find better.  At this point that is about all you can hope for.

If they were going to give him some dumb 5/$200+ million deal it probably would have already been announced.

Bane and Murphy are roughly the same level of player.

Exactly.  And it will take 3-4 picks to get him because the Pistons picks have no value in the 20's.  If Detroit had a lottery pick this year they could have moved it alone (Plus salary filler) for TMIII.

The Pistons do not hold enough tradable draft picks to get a star.

I know we wouldn't do this. I would, some fans might, but Trajan wouldn't. Would New Orleans accept Duren + a pick for Murphy? I'd rather have Paul Reed starting with Murphy then Duren and no Murphy.

I don't think they would.  They traded away this years lottery pick to draft a center last year, and they also have another young center.  I doubt they bring Duren in to block their progress.

Duren and Zion together means no shooting and the Pelicans are a worse 3PT shooting team than Detroit.  Murphy is arguably their best 3PT shooter.  So I imagine any trade would require a little shooting going back to them and Duren doesn't provide that.

Now that Stew is gone its even more unlikely Detroit moves Duren.

Most teams that have made these type of trades have traded future picks and are contenders. Yes Orlando traded the 16th pick but that's not a lottery pick. Most teams that are buyers are good teams so those 1sts are usually late 1sts some of which are well into the future and are unprotected.

I don't see why 3-4 1sts plus Holland lets say wouldn't get it done for Murphy. It was heavily rumored that Atlanta and Golden State were in on Murphy and that the Pelicans wanted a lottery pick in this draft so it doesn't seem like the market for Murphy is that robust if they aren't giving up the 8th or 11th pick respectively. Point being that Langdon could put a competitive offer out there if he wanted to.

The year before NY traded for Bridges they won 50 games.  10 games less than Detroit.  It still took 5 picks.

The year before Orlando traded for Bane they were .500.  19 wins less than Detroit.  It still took 4 picks.

I don't really know what else to say.  I guess in a couple of weeks you can really rub it in my face when Ron Holland and a 3-4 picks are moved for Murphy.

I want to get excited.  But it's all part of the dance.

The Pistons are not required to agree to a sign and trade.  So not only does he have to find a team that wants to pay him.  He has to find a team that offers Detroit compensation they want and consider equal value for Duren.

Like I said, all part of the dance.

The pistons are not a perennial 60 win team.  their picks will likely be in the low 20s, like they were this year after the trade.  just sayin.

This is the same general manager team that put together stew/wiseman/bagley and the famous josh smith/monroe/drummond frontcourt.

its cute that you think were talking about a normal front office who thinks about things like "spacing."

As long as they are the try hard Pistons they will win 55+.  That says more about the rest of the league than Detroit though.  They will still struggle in the playoffs.

So Zion straight up for Duren?

I mean, Langdon was part of the management team that put together most of that awful Pelicans team.  Or doesn't it work both ways?

It's probably posturing because they're dissatisfied with the Pistons offer but it's at the very least encouraging that Langdon isn't giving into Duren's demands. If it is a sign and trade situation, Murphy would be the natural target since we know of Weaver's love affair with Duren or, F it, lets shoot for the stars Jaylen Brown since the Celtics have a distinct need for a quality big (although maybe they're happy with Queta?)
