Can't wait to hear Harris' spin. He played a role in the Giants winning 107 in 2021 where most players played above their baseline. 2022 they came back to earth with 81 wins. 2023 78 wins. I think Det is far below baseline to even out late 2024 through mid 2025. They'll get on a streak, and I think they'll end up above Minnesota. But that's it

All the botched plays for Baltimore and they still figure out to win.  Even when other teams fall apart defensively they can overcome it.

Last  year's Trade Deadline.    To come away with Charlie Morton and Chris Paddack and whomever that injured stiff from Cleveland was,  Paul something,  Was it Sewald?  Did we even get 5 inning out of him?     That showed me that the team was more interested in filling the Illitch family parking lots downtown than they were in actually winning.    

 

The the Pistons do the same crap.   Great season - pickup up a stiff at the deadline who contributes nothing

 

Guess I'll have to savor that 2008 Stanley Cup for a lot longer.

You think we'll win 62 games? 62-100? Well on our way. A finish of 42-67? We're 20-33 now...

For us to believe we’re going to lose 100 games, we would have to believe we are a bad team no matter who’s playing on it, include Skubal, Melton, Javy, Gleyber, Carpenter, etc.

I still have concerns I don't see the way out of. On the offensive side, my confidence level that Javy, Gleyber or Carpenter are going to add that much is low.. All three are fast joining the ranks of those those whose name has to be prefaced with 'the oft-injured.' Will any of them be able to stay on the field once back? Not to mention Javy isn't that big an offensive add under any circumstance. And Parker is already only about half a mis-step away from being a 'might have been'

The pitching talent is going to be there, but you still have the problem of how you get Jansen and Flaherty off the field. It's not going to do any good to have better young arms able to pitch if the team keeps sending those two  guys out there anyway. This management has been pretty bad about cutting bait on its mistakes in a timely fashion (Kenta?). How many games are they going to let those two lose?

You seriously don't think Javy, Gleyber, and Carpenter can add any more to the offense than Zack Short, Wenceel Perez, and Hao-Yu Lee? If that's true, then man, that really is fatalist woe-is-me thinking.

I also don't think any team would ****-can Jansen for one bad outing after six straight practically flawless appearances. As for Flaherty, that's your most defensible move, although that would leave us having to backfill his innings with more bullpen days and pitching chaos. If that's what you'd prefer, I won't try to argue you out of that one.

I feel like they rid themselves of Kenta at the right time. 
 

I think they have dug themselves too big of a hole to save this season, but they also aren’t gonna lose 100 games. 
 

Not that it really matters. Losing 80 or losing 100 still leaves us watching more football than we would like.

Not that I don't think they are miles better, I doubt how many PA we will get before some number of them are back on the IL.

EDIT: I really would have been OK if Gleyber hadn't felt the need to reinforce the point today.

Jansen has blown 4 saves out of 13 save opportunities. His walk rate and HR rate are the highest of his career, his GB the lowest. He strikes me as showing signs of being on borrowed time. OTOH, his velo seems be holding - which is in his favor.

Maybe you're right. Or maybe he's put some of the rougher times behind him and what we're seeing lately is real. One thing is for sure: we're gonna find out.
