I get no indication at all the the management is willing to take  responsibility for the poor defensive play by guys they won't let learn and settle into regular positions.

I literally can’t blame Keith, Lee, or McGonigle for fielding miscues when they never know if and where they will play on any given night

And where was Short once we had the add on runs? What are  you still waiting for to make your defensive substitution with 6 outs left and a 5 run lead on the board?

"we're just trying to win a game" is the new "I'm not taking responsibility" mantra.

I saw a back to back to back at Tiger Stadium once. June 1987. I was sitting ten rows above the Tigers dugout and I know as a 19 year old I wouldn’t have bought those seats. Must have moved down because the Tigers were losing late. Anyways, Grubb and Nokes and Madlock all homered in the 9th to tie it.

That was a three-homer game for Madlock!

I recall going to game at tiger stadium when Nokes hit two homers. I believe the second one was to right field and barely cleared the fence. Might have even gone off the RF’s glove.

He couldn’t have had that many two homer games. I could probably find it.

Last night's game probably followed the same trend for most here as it did for me, but this is how it went. It went from excitement and relaxation to wondering if they could find a way to blow a 6-0 lead still early in the game. Then it went to tiny concern to "okay they are up five again" calmness. Then it went to absolute madness when it looked like they were going to blow the game only to see it end with me feeling more relieved than anything after the final out.

I guess that's more entertaining than a comfortable win.

I remember a game where power hitting shortstop Eddie Brinkman hit 2 home runs. I was about 9 and had to sprint around my block I was so happy

Has there been a longer neck in Tigers history? A couple of cards, before the glasses I remember him wearing.

Fascinating!

Born in Brownwood, Texas, Williams was nicknamed No-Neck due to his relatively short stature (5 feet 6 inches) combined with a muscular, compact torso and a short neck.[3] His odd physical appearance was the result of a typhus injection he received as a baby.[4] After Williams' hometown was hit by a flood, the government gave typhus injections to prevent the spread of the disease.[4] Williams was so muscular even as a baby that medical personnel were unable to reach a vein, except in the back of his neck.[4] He developed a crick in his neck, which then stiffened and shrank.[4]
