Tenacious D Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Who knew we’d all come around to Javy? Would be funny if he played well the rest of this season and next and we might consider bringing him back for another year or two in a utility role. Quote

In early 2024 I'd have wagered pretty heavily that I'd not be cheering for Javy! with joy in my heart in 2026. 1 Quote
Tigeraholic1 Posted August 1 Posted August 1 This is interesting, what other MLB players do this? I was just watching a video about this bat grip. looking at how it would feel going through the zone getting power and how uncomfortable it would be. Quote

If you can't pitch, scoring more runs and catching more outs is the next best thing. Very true but some of those blown saves were walkoffs. No telling just how many runs the other teams would have scored if they needed more. The whole point is I believe bringing Max up right now is a desperate move to distract fans and the media from talking about the 30 games we were leading in that we lost leads in. 30....games. Horrible. Quote

I think in effect if makes for just a little more effective bat length without actually using a longer bat. Sort of the direict opposite approach from Riley, who uses a bat with more of a flare at the end than a knob and he holds it 2" from the end 1 Quote

Horrible. What is the league average for blown leads? And does this stat include starters who give up early inning leads? Dickerson said on the radio the other day that the Tigers had lost 11 games this year when leading after 7 innings. Last year they lost 8 games all season when leading after 7 innings. So 3 more losses than last year with still a third of the season left. That's a problem. I keep seeing all of these different numbers aimed at underscoring the wretchedness of the bullpen, but Dickerson's number suggests the number of blown leads by the bullpen is nowhere near 30. It's still a problem, mind you, but just how much I'm not sure. Edited August 1 by SeattleMike Quote
