I hope they all get to be caregiver and get to live that experience. They have enough money that they don't, but a man can dream. They deserve that suffering. Quote

More and more families are going to see it with all the aging boomers. Quote

And I'm not calling you out here, but the people flippantly calling accusing this and the previous president of dementia as if it is an insult are painting way too big a brush and insulting a lot more people than the president of the other party. I had to deal with a MIL with it within the past few years in our house. My wife dealt with it with great elan but it took its toll and my MIL was at core a nice person so it wasn't anywhere as bad as it could have been. Still, dealing with her in the house, feeding a person, picking them up from the daycare memory facility, and she just wasn't there like she had been earlier in our relationship. Having said that: I definitely hope for the worst for DJT in this regard. Him and his family. He has ruined too many lives not to get a pass from the actuarial tables. He can't be out of office and off this mortal coil soon enough. Quote
Edman85 Posted August 8 Posted August 8 On a personal level, one thing I could see happening if he truly does develop it (and is actually transparent about it, which given the last 9 years of Oval Ovice Opacity with regards to health isn't a guarantee) is that the GOP lines up and reverses the cuts to ALZ and dementia funding that have stopped some great research in its tracks. If it can help dear leader, maybe they would do that... Or... they can do what they did after he was shot and just stump for more guns. Quote

He is so self-loathing and wants everyone to be more miserable than he so he can feel better. People who hate themselves project that self-hate onto everyone else and they want to leave a legacy of hate and misery in their wake. So, if Trump is in a position to understand he's going to die at any moment, what is he capable of on the way out? Quote

Dememtias can have a thousand flavors, hopefully Trump's is one that keeps him unaware - or at least in deep denial, of his own condition and he just keeps ordering aide to do today what he already ordered them to do yesterday. That's a possible recipe for increasing stasis, which would be good outcome with Trump. Quote

He looks like he's entirely made of plastic. And there's that dead eye look yet again for the stats boss. Quote
