The Eduardo Rodriguez Situation.

I am not surprised that people are interested nor do I really care that people are interested.

I'm just expressing my POV, which is that, despite how fans (and some in the media) act, whether it's good from a PR perspective or not, fans and the media really aren't entitled to information about why Eduardo is on the restricted list right now. It's between the team and the player.

That will not stop speculation from occurring, obviously. I suspect at some point we may learn more. But purely from a technical standpoint, we aren't the ones in a "need to know" basis here.

You're always within your right to express your POV here, and you're also within your right to not care about what's behind it all, and even to hold the opinion that none of us should care and that we should respect his privacy by not discussing it. That's an opinion you're always free to defend here. But I do find it funny that someone comes into a thread called "the Eduardo Rodriguez Situation", set up specifically to discuss the Eduardo Rodriguez situation, and then disparages the idea that we should be interested in the details of what's behind the Eduardo Rodriguez situation. If that idea strikes you as unseemly or offends your sensibilities—or, at least is simply not important to you—then any discussion otherwise limited to "when will E-Rod come back" could easily be relegated to the 2022 regular season thread with all the other ongoing pedestrian topics, and we wouldn't need this whole other topic dedicated to it.

Personally, I find this topic fascinating and entertaining, which we fans need, since god knows the team on the field right now aren't either of those things.

yes - it would definitely being even more entertaining if the team were a soap opera and could play as well!

That isn't how I would characterize my position here. But you are free to disagree I guess.

You have stated that Rodriguez is entitled to his privacy. I don't think anyone particularly argues with that - but OTOH, I don't see that his privacy is invaded by our speculations. We aren't paparazzi snooping around his house or opening his mail or even demanding the Tigers provide us any answers.  We're just folks standing around the water cooler wondering WTF is going on with our baseball team - of which he was supposed to be a major part.

This is all correct. Speculation is obviously going to happen in a situation like this.

But again, despite whatever PR ramifications exist, fans and the media aren't necessarily entitled to learn anything about this.

I mostly disagree with the attitude that we all deserve to learn more, but that's OK. This is a message board, and people are allowed to disagree with other people on message boards.
