Jim Cowan Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 Manning is through 3 innings on 43 pitches. Quote
Tigerbomb13 Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 Tucker Barnhart has a .498 OPS and a grand total of 6 XBH (all doubles) well into August. Not just bad, but historically bad. Quote
1776 Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 That’s enough for Manning. Excellent outing but call it day and go to the pen. Quote
1984Echoes Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 6 shutout innings, 82 pitches... what happened that he's being pulled...? Quote

1984Echoes Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 So nothing happened to him (just confirming...) They just pulled him for a short (pitch count) outing? Yeah, I'm good with that. Quote
1984Echoes Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 Aaah.. that's NOT Happening. He's still in... I was wondering what CCG's "frick" comment was on and 1776's surmise on calling it a day for Manning. Misassociative worrying. Quote
1984Echoes Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 If he makes it through the 7th however I think it's time to make a move to the BP... Quote

I wonder if they will do the opposite of what they've done with a lot of our younger pitchers and try and get him as many innings as possible, prepping for the 2023 season? He's missed a lot of time this year. Quote
Tigerbomb13 Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 Encouraging start. Especially nice to see him miss some bats. Quote
Hongbit Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 His control has been pinpoint today. Painting corners with fastball and perfect accuracy on sinker and slider. I made the comment in his last start that I didn’t think Manning had the stuff to be successful if his fb sat at 92 but that’s out the window if he can have this type of control. Quote

He can bring a lot more heat than that. But if he's being pushed to NOT max out the MPH and it results in a lower speed FB but ALSO this much better control... that's probably a winning formula. And I am sure he can dial it back in when he needs to throw a 4-seamer at the top of the zone... Quote
1776 Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 Manning has pitched extremely well today. I would have been happy with six innings and 80+ pitches in that he is just back in the rotation and getting back up to par. I’m just wanting to see these guys stay healthy first and foremost. Quote
Dtrain72 Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 Wouldnt be surprised if Schoop doesnt even make an MLB roster next season....maybe as a bench/backup player, but tbh, he f*cking sucks real baaaaad at this point in his careeer. Quote

Manning finishing the year strong would be such a big pick-me-up going into next year. Quote

And Eduardo. And Brieske. These guys are all short-term outs, unless I'm mistaken. All back before September? Hill too for that matter, although I think he is still breathing in our rotation...? Dtrain72 Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 3 shitty pinch hitters for 3 shitty hitters in a row is peak 2022 Tigers Quote
Dtrain72 Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 Soto walking a guy who would even be too shitty to make this Tigers roster is also peak 2022 Tigers. Quote
