I'll admit to running across the street when the coast is clear. The wait for a walk sign can be up to 2 minutes and if the beg button is broken even longer. Out of curiosity I timed the wait times for crossing Comm Ave and the average was 8 minutes. There's no way I'm waiting that long, especially if it's 10 degrees and snowing. 

My unpopular opinion is that right on red should be illegal in pedestrian heavy areas.

Meanwhile that same road construction has closed one of the 2 main entrances to the subdivisions around us. It only adds a few more minutes to the trip, just a bit of a pain traveling about 3 miles out of your way to get to the nearest grocery store.

We're still in a bit of a shopping wasteland here. It seems longer, but its about a 15 minute drive to the Food Lion. While they do a good job, the increase in the nearby population takes a toll on availability and staff is constantly restocking. The next closest is another 15 minute drive. A real pain if your just looking for a few items

I agree on that. Too many people think they have the right of way to turn. Or that they can just sneak thru real quick if you let them go by. No. You wait. I once jumped on a persons hood who tried that.

I cannot begin to tell how nuts it drives me when an emergency vehicle is approaching with sirens blaring, and I see cars in front of me pull to the side—and block driveways or even streets. Hey, nimrod, does it not even dawn on you that the vehicle might need to turn into the driveway or street you’re blocking? Jackass.

I remember when Michigan first allowed right turn on red, early 70s, and my home city of Warren immediately put No Turn On Red signs at literally corner at every traffic light in the city, probably thousands of signs. It was so prevalent and obvious that there were actual news stories about it, and I think I remember them being pressured by the state to stop that nonsense.

When I lived in Indiana merely slowing down at a stop sign and then continuing was referred to as a “California stop.“ I’m not sure why, but I think we just all thought that everything was legal in California for some reason.

I've spent a bit of time in traffic in Indiana. Not exactly the sharpest tools in the shed when it comes to drivers

Nobody from California was damn fool enough to come to Indiana that I knew of. No, we were hicks in the sticks, making it all up. Making a reference about “Californians“ was a way of acting like you knew something when you didn’t.

Getting minor surgery on the ear Monday morning.  They are inserting a tube and injecting steroids directly into the middle ear and then I will have to put steroid drops in my ear for two weeks.      I hope tis works.    I'm really scared that I'll never hear in that ear again.

Every time I've had multiple pets, there has always been one that walks away from food, and another one that swoops in and finishes it off.

LOL. yes. We had brother and sister Elkhounds and we had to work on the male, who was a year older, to at least wait until his sister was done eating before trying to finish anything she left.

Snow.  Hate it.  What was s’posed to be a dusting overnight has turned into 3 or 4 inches of fluffy bull**** by dinner.  And it ain’t done.

Washtenaw County didn't touch their roads today.  Massive Fail.   They knew this was coming this morning. 

 

And I know this because as soon as I got to Wayne County there was a MASSIVE difference.   Still wasn't good, but it was drivable.     Washtenaw was sleepin' on the job today.      F

yup. I don't think I've ever seen them send plows out in A^2 before the snow stops. They'll go out and salt if it's wet and is going to start to freeze in place, but I guess they really hate to have to go back and plow anywhere twice.

our 2 hr forecasted snow flurry is now up to about 9 hrs.

This was crazy.  Can’t blame the forecasters. Everyone got it wrong. It reminds me of the rain we got on  Oct 7, my birthday.  The Tiger playoff game.  Alll day long it was supposed to stop anytime.  It didn’t. 
 

I had a Tiger event downtown and driving home it looks like nothing was touched yet. Even 94 was 30 mph.

the center of the this system looks like it has just parked itself somewhere around London Ontario and made itself comfortable there.

I-94 in Washtenaw County EB was about 8 mph.   

Michigan Avenue EB in Wayne County - well I was going about 35-40 with no major issue.    Roads were messy, but they'd been treated.  

But Bryce Underwood's street and mansion were plowed and cleaned.   The University and City of Ann Arbor had people catching the snowflakes before they soiled his ground.

I don't know.  I did yesterday's forecast and said we were going to get snow and dropping temps in the afternoon.   I was just using NOAA.
