Deleterious Posted November 15 Posted November 15 The guy on the video was probably from Flint. Or at the very least, he was mixing terms from Flint and Detroit style coneys. A true Flint style coney uses something called coney sauce, and It's made by Abbott's Meat, a local meat provider/butcher. Places will add things to provide their own touch, but all true Flint style coneys start with a base of Abbott Meat's coney sauce. Abbott's just closed down after over 100 years in business. So Koegels has picked up the torch and is now making the sauce. https://www.amazon.com/Abbotts-Hotdog-Coney-Sauce-4lbs/dp/B00FA8NKCM 1 Quote
oblong Posted November 15 Posted November 15 If anyone in the area wants good coneys a good place is Joes Top Dogs in east Dearborn. Doesn’t get mentioned like those 2 downtown or Duly’s but it’s just as good. Quote
oblong Posted November 15 Posted November 15 I was second guessing myself and asked my wife and she confirmed chili and not coney sauce. Quote
