Dunc is going to hit his shots tonight so Huerter wasn’t going to be needed anyway. -

TBF, Workman put up a 900+ OPS last August and September in Toledo as well, but he was still striking out way too much. Somewhere along the line Workman stopped switch hitting, and his improvement has followed his concentration on hitting from one side of the plate, so there is some rationale for thinking he's not quite the same player that putzed around the system for so many years. OTOH, when K's are the problem in the minors, that's about the worst sign for a hitter making it at the next level. Unfortunately, Jung's K rate at Toledo is also 30%. There isn't a whole lot to be excited about either one of these guys. I just would like to see Workman because he is more of an unknown. Have already seen enough of Jace for the pessimism to be well baked. 🙄 -

God help us if McGonigle gets injured tonight, because as far as I can tell, he's the only shortstop we got now. And he's already in the bottom quarter of shortstops league-wide. -

The easiest solution is for Cade to play like a 1st team all-nba guy. Pistons would probably be going for the clinch tonight had that happened more this series. -

Diesel is about $10/gal in Italy right now. We are burning through every bit of international goodwill we ever had.

I agreed that I thought at first we might call Max up, not that Kevin would play shortstop every day. But let's set that aside. A.J. Hinch has been fired. You've been named manager. This is your roster. How will you deploy it? I assume you start with Kevin playing shortstop every day. What next?

Workman has a LH bat and they want a RH bat? -

Based on Hinch’s comments, Mize got decent news and will miss a few starts…Baez timeline unknown…. I would guess mid to late June. -
The Corrine Brown example cuts the other way: Florida’s mapmakers used race and partisanship together, and when Black voters were cracked out of the district, Black representation fell and Republicans benefited overall. But the VRA was intended to prevent minority vote dilution, not to engineer “competitive” districts for Democrats. Without Section 2, legislatures would have far more room to crack or pack minority voters until they no longer have a realistic chance to elect candidates of their choice.

No, maybe best player to fill in, short term. Protect SS in case of emergency. Don't have to worry about options or putting another player on the 40 man roster And a RH bat. They're leaving the better, future player, in Toledo. Instead of sitting on the bench in Detroit for two weeks. Or....you were being sarcastic? 😅😅 -

This seems backwards to me. Majority-black districts are not just “pack Dem voters to help Republicans”; Section 2 exists because Black voters were already being cracked and packed so they couldn’t elect their candidates of choice. A fair opportunity district can be both legally required and politically Democratic-leaning, but that doesn’t mean it’s a GOP-favoring gimmick. Minority representation and partisan advantage are related, but they're not the same thing, and the legal question is vote dilution—not whether Democrats lose a seat somewhere else.

Probably true. I have to admit I’m tired of waiting for Jung to break out. This is one of those situations for which there’s no easy fix within the organization right now. -

That could be like Anderson pumping up Pittaro. It is just hard for me to believe that someone who has become a journeyman infielder is worth getting excited about. -

Both offenses being terrible causes issues for guys like Stewart or Ron getting more minutes. You run into diminishing returns by playing guys that provide defense and no offense. - Today

I guess that’s true, although I’ve heard the manager of the Mudhens claim otherwise. I’m not sure how many chances the Tigers owe Jung. Maybe he’ll stick this time. -

Can't say I'll lose any sleep over this list. Maybe Reader would have been nice depth, but they replaced him with youth which is fine. Maulet and Cunningham are maybe a little surprising just in terms of the depth at those positions, though they're both older guys who again could be replaced with youth. -

I don't know that Workman is more worthy than Jung based on one month at Toledo. Since they let him get away two years ago, I think they see him as a flawed player. Not that Jung isn't!
