Harris dodged a bullet here on that one, didn’t he? 😉
-
It might lower the bullpen ERA, though.

How about a musical 180? So, I came around to liking 40s music in my andulthood and I listen to 40s Junction on Sirius. I like mostly swing music, although I have familiarity with sweet music as well. Just to give you an idea of how conditioned by the 21st Century I’ve become, I start hearing a song sung by Judy Garland called I’m Nobody’s Baby. So, going into the song, I’m imagining it would be about a woman asserting that she’s a strong person and not just an appendage, that’s she’s independent and can do for her own—she’s nobody’s baby, so don’t call her that, she’s a full person. But of course, this is the 40s, a world where everything, including the songwriting business, is run by men, so of course what the song is instead is a lament that she doesn’t have a man—poor me, I’m nobody’s baby, nobody loves me, boo hoo hoo.

Someone is marking a huge '8647' into the grounds of the National Mall in DC

Volume 2 is out on vinyl today. Volume 1 is out on Tuesday. I already own the mp3 versions and will have the albums up on the wall in my man cave.

What are you basing this one? The fact they play in MLS? The defense is the weak part, not much a goalie can do if his D is sub standard. If MIles Robinson plays a significant amount of minutes we are in trouble, he stinks.

I was dead set against seeing them on this tour because of the pricing. The videos that I’ve seen of the first shows has changed my mind. Seeing them in August in Detroit and my hit a Chicago show as well Also Anika as the drummer is not only killing it, she has actually doubled the number of females in the building.

Especially if Baez and Meadows are done for the season. And if Keith starts to hit with some power and Torres and Carpenter stay healthy we can carry a defensive first centerfielder. Any rebound in his bat is gravy.

One interesting data point from this so far...and I should have realized this as it was under my nose. Jay Jones, the Virginia AG candidate was a dumpster fire full of loaded diapers and still won this past year. The rising tide is going to pull a lot of similar shaky (to be very generous) candidates over the line. I think Platner being younger and not Susan Collins will mean more than him being really shaky. And before you dazzle me with your knowledge of how much money Collins will spend or electioneering the GOP will pull off... They threw the kitchen sink at Jones because it was the only election they thought they could win.

I always think it's fake anytime I see anything about this.

Just started this vid as I start working on something. Lets see how this goes.

Sure, why not? He is three years removed from a 3-4 win season. May as well kick the tires for a bit, especially while a few guys at the back of the roster have been sub-replacement. Worst case, you have some extra depth.
-
I find MBs prognostications to be extremely not compelling
-
Sure, that's a line of thinking about it. But it still doesn't answer what value to the organization as a whole does this acquisition make? Even if they need OF depth in Toledo, do they have to go through this charade because the reward of Outman is worth it?
-
I would 100% take that risk. There is almost no chance he gets an offer on the open market.

I'd rather have Montero starting than Valdez, but that's not gonna happen. -

Certainly not with Cleveland on the program next. -
re: Fetterman: One of the last posts on LiberalPatriot -- about Qinnipiac polling on Fetterman. https://www.liberalpatriot.com/p/john-fetterman-and-the-new-era-of Then, on the death of TLP https://artofassociation.substack.com/p/the-strange-death-of-the-liberal The line in the 2nd that rang the bell to me was this one: For either party - eke out one house of Congress or the Presidency every other cycle, continual split government gridlock. It's why too many people in the middle aren't caring that Trump is willing to break everything.

His cutter looked sharp today. If 2024 Holton is in there we should try to find him. -
I think the knockout round is going to be weird. I think people are underestimating the added variance of adding a round of 32 and how that will even the playing field a bit. The World Cup champion is going to have to win five knockout games. And there are going to be some “matchups of death” in the rounds of 32 and 16. I think if you make it to the round of 8, you may find that the field is weaker than years past. You never know. You might get Loyola in the final four.

Yes -to some extent there is a critical mass effect as team OBP/OPS go up, not only from pitcher fatigue but just from the increased probability of getting multiple men on base or a man into scoring position in any inning - and that would apply to all hitters that "lengthened: the lineup -i.e. were significantly more productive than the guy they bump out of the bottom of the order. -
Fetterman also was a progressive populist. Platner as recently as 2020 voted for Collins. I don’t think he will switch parties but he is definitely a wild card.
