  1. Past hour
  2. jesus, i thought "i" overvalued dylan larkin...
  3. When Eichel was traded to Vegas, Buffalo got Tuch AND a first round pick back in return. I think the trade proposal with San Jose would just be Larkin straight up for the #2 overall pick. Not adding a quality NHL ready player to the deal, like an Alex Tuch, changes the asking price I would think. Thus, making our ability to get the #2 overall pick for Larkin that much more feasible.
  4. I've done a few marches through the streets for US World Cup Qualifying games. Gosh, it would be cool to do that for a World Cup Game. If I was smarter way back in the day, I would've realized when the US opened at the Silverdome there probably was a march. That was my opportunity that I blew. But I was a rookie just learning then. Had no clue marches to the stadium existed. If I lived on the west coast, It would be fun just to do the march even if you don't have a ticket for the game. Just walk to the point of the ticket gates.
  5. Driving in Boston? Who would want to? I've driven in a lot of big cities and I think Boston was the worst of the worst. Got stuck in the loop (if you call it that) downtown and couldn't get over to exit and was stuck doing about 10 laps until I could. Of course that was the wrong road, but I got out. I was trying to find a truck dealership on Beacon St. I was lost so I gave up. Came up to a toll booth and paid the guy a buck or two and asked where was Beacon St. was. He said, you just got off of it. Really, how do I get back on? Do a u-turn he says. Right, a u-turn across 3 or 4 lanes of traffic? Everybody else does he says. So I did. Of course I had to go through the toll both on the other side. Guy wanted two bucks and I said I just paid over there. That's over there, and this is here, give me the two bucks. OK. What a mess the traffic was. That was years ago during the "big dig" so that probably didn't help. The taxi ride to the airport was a hoot too. I think the guy ripped me off big time. I didn't care since it wasn't my money and a neat way to see the city without having to drive.
  6. Or when a groundball pitcher is on the mound for the other team...
  7. There will inevitably be some very strong teams (at least one) that somehow falls to third (in the past that would've been a shocking team out of the tourney) but gets one of those third-place spots and a first-place team won't be happy. 🙂 That's got to happen you figure. But in some ways it actually assures stronger teams do advance because they have the third-place option to still make it to the elimination rounds. So I'm guessing this format will actually help more good teams (again even if it is just one or two teams that need it) make it to the round of 32 and still have a chance to win this thing. Single elimination always opens up the chances for "not the best" teams as we advance, but I don't care about that. If a team makes it to the quarterfinal, they are going to have to beat a good squad in one of those two games and will still have to win one of those contests. Will the quarterfinals be weaker? I don't know about that. Again, any squad that gets there will have to beat two teams, and if they are a weaker team at the very least one of those teams will be favored against that squad, if not both. And if they win those two games, who is to say they are actually "weaker?
  8. Curious to see if the Giannis trade is done by draft night or not. Most of the rumored packages are pretty underwhelming IMO. The Celtics one for Brown is the best I think. I'm just skeptical Boston would give him up. I'm not sure it makes them all that much better if they do.
  9. Someone on the hfboards who seems to be plugged in somehow said that the Wings have discussed trading Edvinsson to the Sharks??? If that's true then I could see some sort of package around that bringing back 2nd overall or Misa. Was kinda shocked to read that though.
  10. Look who’s on it, though! Even though Kurtz is trying to be somewhat exculpatory, at least he wasn’t calling it a hoax.
  11. we were just across the street from the Make Way for Ducklings thing. So, yeah we were on Beacon st. I know why I chose that SW direction because it was the direction of the Lindt store which i figured would have funny chocolate gifts.
  12. I guess Woike also said Detroit and Atlanta are two teams who might take a swing at Reaves. I agree with Ku on that possibility.
  13. I took my kids on a chocolate walk-about just to hit all the chocolate places in a straight line from our place I think i chose the cardinal direction south west. We hit like 6 different places. Detroit should strive to get to that level of walk-ability.
  14. Those two and probably Montero may be the exceptions. Probably Anderson too.
  15. You stayed very close to where I now live. There is a bar there that the show was based on, on Beacon Street. Boston's definitely not known for its food-it's geared mostly towards college students. The North End and Chinatown do have a few good casual places, though. And honestly the reason I've stuck around is because of how easy it is to get around without a car. IMHO the best vacations are ones where you just wander around and see what you may find. One of my favorite things to do is walk through the Public Garden, then down the park that runs down Comm Ave. One of these days I want to walk the Freedom Trail and go on a Swan Boat ride-that'll probably be the next time I have friends and/or family in town.
  16. Jack Eichel was 24 and Larkin has never hit 80 points in his career. The first round pick was 18th overall. Meanwhile you're talking about the second overall pick (in a draft where the top 2 players are fantastic prospects) and Misa who was considered one of the best prospects in the entire league? Tuch is a good player but he was never the same level prospect as Misa. Krebs had plenty of warts which we've seen play out in his career where he's settled in as a less than 40 point player who is bad at defense. I admire your optimism but I think you're going to be very sad with the trade return if this is what you're expecting. I'll give you your kudos if something like this happens but.....it seems insane to me.
  17. No. It is ridiculous Harper has to deal with that while trying to inbound. He couldn't even pass to someone in the corner because of the guy in orange.
  18. Read an article that said Skubal Bb rate is the lowest it’s ever been, Mize’s is his career avg and Mize’s K’s are career high
  19. Agreed. Hinch likes to start Short when a ground ball pitcher, like Valdez, starts. But for other pitchers, he should only be a late inning defensive replacement.
  20. This would take them out of the running for Duren. I honestly don't think they were ever seriously considering him anyway. Woike is the Lakers beat write for The Athletic.
  21. Maine folks earn crazy voting decisions via their rough winters.
  22. Boston also is not to be missed. Great aquarium. Also, some historical crap. :--) We stayed just off Boston Commons near the "Cheers" bar which apparently was not the one from the show. We never set foot in there because that would have been really cheesy. Very walkable town. Passable food.
  23. I’m not gonna go look at stats, but I think you could probably say that K rates are down and BB rates are up for most of the pitchers on the team—particularly relievers.
  24. When Eichel was dealt he had a creer high of 82 points and a bad neck. Eichel and a 3rd netted Buffalo Tuch, Krebs and 1st and a 2nd. If anything...I'm letting the Sharks off light
  25. Let's go!!
