  1. Past hour
  2. Inflation up to 4.2% in May. So. Much. Winning.
  3. Inflation is way up. Where are all the folks who were screaming about inflation as Joe Biden was rescuing us from Trump's horrible reaction to the Covid pandemic?
  4. Not me, win or lose we need to trade him. If anyone gives him $400M it'll be a Zimmerman, Miggy's last, JAvy level contractual bungle. He's injury prone with probably 2 good years left at best.
  5. but that doesn't satisfy the "do something" itch.
  6. And then the Tigers would have outfielders blocked. But we could use a player for CF until Clark is ready. Maybe a stud for RF too? But losing Skubal, even the thought of it, sickens me. I hope we extend him.
  7. Fun fact: Tigers did better at 3B between Colt and McStinky after August 1 than the Mariners did with Suarez. And we still have Troy Melton. Scott Harris FTW. 😉
  8. For the record, I would have been open to including one of the Briceno/Rainer for Johan Duran and potentially both for Joe Ryan, but not any of them for any of the bats that were available.
  9. Today is a bad day for massacres. The movie Anthropoid is quite good if a bit friendly to the history on the first one. The second one in Oradour-sur-Glane is like something out of a Mel Gibson movie (The Patriot) but this actually happened. 1942: The Lidice Massacre In a brutal act of retaliation for the assassination of top SS official Reinhard Heydrich, the Nazis destroyed the Czechoslovakian village of Lidice. All 173 men and boys over 16 were executed, while the women and children were deported to concentration camps. The tragedy is documented by the The History Place. [1, 2] 1944: The Oradour-sur-Glane Massacre Four days after D-Day in France, soldiers from the Nazi SS Das Reich Division committed one of the worst single-day atrocities in Western Europe. They massacred 642 civilians—including 207 children and 245 women—in the French village of Oradour-sur-Glane. The village was never rebuilt and stands as a permanent memorial. You can read about the grim details on The History Place. [1, 2, 3]
  10. And even further, fans have been speculating a haul we could get for Skubal since last trade deadline. My attitude is it makes interesting reading but if Harris can't even make minor deals, people expect him to make a blockbuster trade? I don't see it happening, even if it makes good reading.
  11. The Diamondbacks were the specific team mentioned that required Melton to be included for Suarez.
  12. As has been reported here, many outlets claim the Dodgers have an entire OF blocked in the minors. So I'm now going to propose a trade, we'll see if it's approved: Skubal, & Javy to the Dodgers. So we get some salary relief too. Tigers get all 4 OF prospects. DePaula, Hope, Quintero & Sirota. Rotation is Valdez - Melton - Montero - Flaherty - Verlander - with Mize/Madden/Jobe still in reserve. Mize still available to trade for 40HR RH hitting 3B.
  13. June 10 https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/june-10?cmpid=email-hist-tdih-2026-0610-06102026&om_rid=&~campaign=hist-tdih-2026-0610
  14. Yeah, I agree. Its not really the young player we need(ed). Its more like the player who loses his job to the up and coming young player. Like a rental, just until Clark is ready. But is it really that hard to find a .250 hitter? Kinda sad that even a weak hitter would be an upgrade.
  15. why didn't Harris give up assets to acquire a 4th string CF? is an easy question to answer
  16. You want production too? Any good CF who can also produce offensively is not going to be blocked. The question is whether there was a good field no hit guy available.
  17. I dont follow the minor leagues enough to know which players are ready or even available. All I'm saying is it shouldn't be that hard to replace these 3 guys who fill in at CF. Are you happy with their production?
  18. Could he hit .180? That would be an upgrade over Perez. These 3 guys are total black holes this season;
  19. No, come on, I’m being serious. You know MTF, we do this kind of thing all the time, where we propose trades. We all do it, so join the fun. Who are the blocked center fielders you see out there we could have gotten, and who could we have traded to get them? None of us have insider information but we still take a swing at it. You clearly feel very strongly about it so you must have some idea?
  20. Like I said, I'm not a GM with access to multiple scouting reports or a team of scouts giving me advice. But many, many teams make trades every season. And like Lee said, Harris made his one big move this season, acquiring Zach Short. Time for him to rest, it must be a very difficult job...
  21. how does Ament, 6-10 and athletic, shoot 52% at the rim? seems impossibly low
  22. Someone left the cake out in the rain.
  23. Yeah, I heard rumors they were asking for Melton. And, IMO, he was untouchable for the players who appeared available. And the other players you mentioned? Yeah, not for rentals or washed up players. But there were players moved for much less than top prospects. For instance, Suarez...who didnt do much, even though thats hindsight: Mariners receive: 3B Eugenio Suárez D-backs receive: 1B Tyler Locklear (Mariners’ No. 9 prospect), RHP Hunter Cranton (No. 16), RHP Juan Burgos (No. 17)
  24. What if you have a rare ingredient which can bake the cake quicker even if it's not perfect. You know that ingredient won't be available in the future, so you have to get it done now.
