I'll go this far...in today's environment, you don't see top 5 picks move and you don't see 1C's on a relatively cheap 5 year deal move often enough to easily gangue the market for either
-
Value of a top pick depends on whether you are the Rangers....
-
And I would counter you saying that I think you are drastically undervaluing the second overall pick in the draft. We obviously don't agree on this stuff but to frame it as we're just trying to give Larkin away is disingenuous.
-
The wife was watching the live stream of them taking down his name from the Kennedy Center and they had to stop because of an incoming lightning storm. You know the god botherers are going to say it was divine will.
-
You guys hate Larkin more than the rest of the league...Good players do not become available often...top 25 guys in the league almost never do. Larkin is a proven veteran with a lot of mileage left...he's very highly regarded with the USA hockey program, as evidenced by his spot on the Four Nations and Olympic teams. Why some of you want to sell him for peanuts is beyond me.

the voters are Morons.

Now he can afford a ticket to Mars.

lol, I’ll say it! Thisnis the classic college football argument about talent vs resume. Yes, whoever makes it there will have the visit beat some good teams. But as you said, it’s the single elimination randomness that gets cracked up by adding an extra round. I’m also not sure that the third place teams that get through will necessarily be good. By your argument the fact they could t finish top two must mean they suck 😉 But what I mean is that third place teams are going to be those teams in groups that have a terrible fourth team that goes 0-0-3. You’ve got to some get points ts but not finish in the top two, so it feels like you are going to have the classic third place team that went 1-1-1 and would have been out on GD that gets through. We’ll see, but the fact we are basically taking the prior World Cup field of 32 and effectively putting them straight into the knockout is bound to cause more early exits for the blue bloods.

So Donald Trump destroys the economy with his inept handling of covid which caused inflation to go out of control. Joe Biden takes office and starts to lower inflation and enacts several programs to help typical Americans. MAGA proceeds to blame Biden for the high inflation and re-elect Donald Trump, who proceeds to go back on every campaign promises he made, as well as giving tax breaks to the ultra wealthy, leaving typical Americans out in the cold. Within 18 months of Trump taking office, inflation again is out of control. The MAGA crowd is mostly silent but when asked about inflation, they still blame Joe Biden. <just getting a start on history books of the future>

Easy to be sceptical of Keider because of the low K rate - despite the impressive WHIP near 1.00. Porcello had a year like that in Boston (low BB low H/9) and won a CY but couldn't replicate it. -
Now we know for a fact the NYTimes story is scaring the **** out of them.

Well, it's not Wenceel... Jones with Wenceel taking his spot as the RH platoon guy?
- Today

It should be 1-0 Canada, Jonathan David had to have done better. Edit: and now it’s 1-0 Bosnia, blech.
-
Yeah, we are not getting Larkin for #2 overall and Misa. I will even LOL it. I think a few pages ago I asked whether Larkin + Cossa would be in a conversation for #2 overall alone, and even that I really doubt SJ would say yes to.
-
Alanis Morissette, who has lived in California the past 30 years, chosen to sing O Canada at World Cup opener in Toronto. Isn’t it ironic.
-
yeah - I misread that.
-
it's a provisional critique. If->then.

I'm picking up good vibrations she's giving me the excitations

Is Larkin still in his prime? I hope other teams think so. Me, not so sure.
-
Ref it isn't fair that two of them are in the ring at the same time! I feel like @lordstanley could be the ref here?
-
Agree with all of this. I don't think Larkin straight up for #2 overall is asking too much. Considering the number of top 3 picks that don't end up with careers as successful as Larkin's has been, I think it's a fair valuation. Considering Larkin is still in his prime and on such a team friendly deal, this also makes it a fair valuation.

Verlander got lit up by AAA hitters. Hoping for the best, but it would suck if his return was terrible for the Tigers. JV looking like Steve Carlton at the end. Just held on for way too long. Scherzer too. Those Glory Days are long gone, fellas. -
