Local guy with a twin brother. High school in Lansing and both played at Eastern. -
No, they have a type of player they like when it comes to character and culture and they aren't compromising on that for any one player, no matter how talented they may be. It's the same reason they passed on guys like James Pearce Jr. and Mike Green in last year's draft.

I can't trash Phil Garner as a manager in Detroit. While his time here was not successful, he was saddled with the single worst GM in baseball history in Randy Smith. When you have a guy so bad at talent evaluation, scouting, free agent negotiations, and trading that he gives Matt Millen a run for his money, you know you're screwed. Nothing Garner could do, or even the best managers like a Joe Madden, could possibly overcome the atrocities of Randy Smith. The bad seasons we had opening up Comerica Park were on Randy Smith and the team his front office assembled, not Garner.

RIP Phil Garner.

then again, after seeing him go to 2 probowls and get a SB ring maybe they'd be less inclined to make the same decision again.....🤷♂️

Apples and bowling balls.

They clearly passed on Jalen Carter because of a car accident he was involved in. It was a concern for them then with Carter.

Definitely not suggesting that I trust the American people... Nor am I excited quite frankly about any of this. There's a reason you see less of me on this board and consuming political media at this point in time But also stepping back from all of that, the Hungarian election shows that politics does matter and that change can happen. And the population that made it happen didn't do it by acting like a bunch of cold hearted cynics who were constantly paralyzed by fear, they did it by putting in the work We really could learn from that collectively

As Churchill famously observed, “You can always count upon Americans to do the wrong thing, each and every day of the year and twice on Sundays. The ______g morons.”

From 14 wins to 60 in two seasons - without getting a superstar - that's incredible. J.B. has to get coach of the year this year. Should have had it last year. -

Who is #14 between Rodman & Vinnie. I know everyone else. -
Just finished DTF St. Louis and even though they telegraphed the ending (or the whodunnit) it was still a very impactful ending.

I lack confidence in the American people to do the right thing when it really counts. They failed us in ‘16, ‘18, ‘22, and ‘24 despite all the handwringing from th Lincoln project and bulwark and podcasters. Remember when Graham and Cruz and Collins were going to lose? Dobbs was supposed to end the GOP. That’s ancient history. Yes it’s cute when an R district goes from +47 to + 18 or a Democrat wins dog catcher in Montana. Until the House and Senate flips and then the White House goes D I’m not getting excited. This country elected Trump again after ‘16 and Jan 6. It’s who we are. It wasn’t an outlier. We are at the mercy of idiots.

what make you sure he'd refuse? He's the guy who has publicly expressed dissatisfaction with the org. Athletes generally want two things, to get paid, and to win. As he he starts seeing the end of his career come into focus, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Larkin wouldn't welcome a trade if it got him to an org with a legitimate shot at a Cup.

No knock on the brave dedicated people who worked this project, but objectively, this mission was mostly a reprise of re-purposed, warmed over 80's rocket tech. A broken down thespian mounting a production of Hamlet when he's 70 just to prove he's still alive. We fall back on these kinds of demonstrations whenever national confidence wanes. I wonder if they make any difference,

Yes, forgot about Frank. Same thing. That stuff matters. If you play everyday and see all these hard throwing farm boys and all of a sudden this dude's serving up grapefruit sized balls - we get great big eyeballs because we are going to hit it over the roof - but we just screwed ourself into the batters box while missing it by about 10 feet. The speed just dicks you up. That's why on doubleheader days they would put a junk-baller game one, and a flame thrower game two, as the belief was they were more tired the second game. As sadists pitchers (established above :-)), I would think the junk ballers get a bigger kick out of making us look stupid because they are throwing junk at us. OK. That's fine. Think what you want. A good hitter fails 7 of 10 times. It's a humbling game. And the greatest game ever. But they keep trying to **** it up.

just shuffling the deck chairs. no thanks.

Don't be fooled. it's actually Trump sucking the life force out of another of his poor supporters to keep his rotted corpse from decomposing on the spot.

Tanana's career was fascinating. He was a young fireballer early in his career, lost it and then re-made himself into a crafty lefty. He wasn't the only one to do that, but I don't think too many pitchers had quite the contrast in his career that he did. It would be like Skubal losing it and then becoming Kenny Rogers.

There's a big difference between character/locker room concerns reflective of bad judgment and a legitimate accident. This sounds like a legitimate accident. He wasn't drunk, high, or driving recklessly. He was just at-fault in an accident, it happened on a freeway where everyone is going way faster than they consciously realize, and it tragically cost someone their life. I would sincerely hope it never happens to anyone I know, but I think a tragic accident could happen to anyone. I have no reason to doubt he's not sincerely sorry about it. And I don't think this is the kind of thing that gets guys removed from our board.

Offensive on so many levels... so many levels
