  1. Past hour
  2. That's a big reason why Baltimore wouldn't trade any of their guys a few years back and also why Harris wouldn't trade any of the Tiger prospects The big trade they always talk about is the Chris Archer deal a few years ago. It was a bad trade but Glasnow has been a human IL machine, Austin Meadows couldn't handle the stress of playing and quit, and Baz has been downright awful.
  3. Not really. Culumulative player WAR correlates pretty high with team wins. If it didn't, then it wouldn't be useful. That is why I wanted to know about pitching. There is also luck involved since it's only one third of as season so far.
  4. True and another thing is that teams know their prospects better than they use to know them and I think they are more reluctant to trade the best ones.
  5. This also shows how flawed WAR is.
  6. We have an Asian Lily that I purchased for Mother’s Day about 4 years ago. It goes dormant in the Fall and has surprisingly come back every Spring. Always around May 15
  7. These guys are all retired by now. Listing guys traded 40 years ago sure drives the point home. Maybe someone from the current century?
  8. Biden with only half a mind would still be better than Trump’s “genius” brains
  9. Not clinically, but he was very much in decline from his peak. I don't know how far he fell between the end of his presidency and that debate, but that debate was uncomfortably embarrassing. Trump was embarrassing too but being embarrassing is his baseline and his followers don't care anyway.
  10. FEIW, I don’t think Biden was clinically senile at the end.
  11. Prospects don't always fail, but a team which is a seller at the deadline is not generally in a good position. The teams trading prospects know their young players better than anyone and they are likely to offer flawed players. You can hope that the propect you get pans out, but chances are he won't.
  12. But the cowboy hat!
  13. Good data. Add them up and it's 3.7 WAR fewer than last year though. Add McGonigle and it's roughly 3.0 WAR fewer. So, the hitting difference is not explaining everything considering they were about 13 wins better at this point last year.. It would be interesting to see the pitching difference.
  14. Anyone remember when the Grand Old Pedo Party championed “Family Values”
  15. This belongs better in this thread.... The Tigers? Adames. Smoltz. And.............. Hanly Ramirez, Anibal Sanchez, Cliff Lee, Grady Sizemore, Carlos Baerga, Joe Carter, Adam Wainwright, Michael Brantley, Jay Buhner, Corey Kluber, Jeff Bagwell, Jason Varitek, derek Lowe, Curt Schilling, Moises Alou, David Ortiz Were all traded mid season as prospects...and I know I'm missing many as well as lesser but yet successful players. The Tigers dismal track record doesn't mean everyone fails.
  16. Didn't specify the Tigers. And of course this is a different group of decision makers so it would be Apples and Oranges anyway. Addressed the talent traded in another thread.

  18. The Lions getting deals done is impressive. Next up? Gibbs!
  19. By “this” I mean the distraction, not the bombshell.
  20. Perhaps you can list all these amazing players the Tigers have received when selling off their all star players. Who am I overlooking out in the cherry orchard?
  21. Well in truth only three can hit - Greene -Dingler and Torres. And when you look at that group and their career statistics how could you think it's a sustainable offense when you account for the certainties of injuries and the fact management considers the others listed as platoon players. Hitters , true hitters, can hit both righties and lefties.
  22. While I understand the cherry picking of failed prospects to make your point there have also been VERY good players traded at the deadline. As always with baseball prospects it's a roll of the dice.
  23. Today
  24. I'm sure Harris and Hinch take the credit because those players bought into their system.
  25. WAR May 22, 2025 vs May 22, 2026 Dingler 1.4 vs 1.8 Greene 1.3 vs 1.7 Torkelson 1.3 vs 0! McKinstry 1.1 vs -0.4! Baez 1.1 vs 0 Torres 0.9 vs 0.5 Carpenter 0.7 vs -0.2 Keith 0.3 vs 0.1 Rogers 0.1 vs -0.1 Harris challenged these guys at the end of 2025 to go home and work on getting better. Two did so far. Three lost more than 1 WAR each. Injuries have been a huge issue but this is the core of the offense. They have to get better performance out of these guys.
  26. On this date Apollo 10 came within 9 miles of the lunar surface and about 150 miles from the site of the Apollo 11 lunar landing. There were always rumors that they put less fuel in it to prevent them from landing but that's not true. First off, these were military guys who would not disobey an order. Second, they had plenty of things to test out that needed to work before a landing could take place. They came close to crashing. A switch setting was flipped by one crew member, and the other didn't realize it, so they switched it back. That tricked the craft from thinking an abort was taking place. They came within a few seconds of crashing into the surface. They begun to spin wildly above the surface. A bad word was said, which was a scandal. This is the only flown Lunar Module that's possibly still intact. Previous versions were crashed into the moon, Apollo 13's burned up in Earth's atmosphere. Snoopy, the name of Apollo 10's was jettisonned into orbit and a few years ago a team said with 98% confidence they found it orbiting the sun.
