Apparently he looked really good: Detroit Red Wings 2021 first-round pick Simon Edvinsson is already playing to rave reviews at the U-20 Four Nations Tournament. He posted two assists in Sweden’s 5-0 opening win against the Czech Republic. A source, with ties to the Swedish team, told Detroit Hockey Now that Edvinssson “was a monster” in the game. “He looks better than Rasmus Dahlin did at the same age,” the source said. “He has the same offensive game and is much stronger.” Simon Edvinsson, 18, plays at high-caliber level for Frolunda in the Swedish League. He has one goal and eight assists for nine points in 16 games. He owns a +7 plus-minus. The 6-foot-4 defenseman suffered a minor injury, but it wasn’t serious enough to keep him out of the Four Nations Tournament. Edvinsson will play for Sweden’s U-20 at the World Junior Championships. Edvinsson is a full-service defenseman. He plays physical, is mindful of his defensive play and carries the puck with authority. “You have to go back to Victor Hedman to find a comparable Swedish D-man, aged 18,” the source said. “The Red Wings have a gem in Simon.”

Not to beat a dead horse but some of this is on Casey. That said, Killian has to go to the bench and be a backup. Not that we have great options on the bench to replace him but we need to do something. You still need to ultimately run the offense thru Cade and hope he figures out his turnover issue. Also hope Livers gets healthy soon. Livers and Bey are good shooters. Bey will get it going at some point. And I think Livers can help as well.

I just can't believe how poor we have been on offense over the first 10 games. Some of this has to be put on Casey. We look completely lost out there. He was known for being more defensive minded than offensive minded when he came here and I think we are suffering for it.

It's a shame that they can't pair Cade with someone who can actually score other than Grant. I know it's only G-league but Saben Lee has scored 42 and 35 in his first two games this year with the Cruise. He has barely played at all in NBA games this season so far.

Tony Paul of the Detroit News put out his list for top FAs and his predictions. He has the Tigers signing Correa, Verlander, Carlos Rodon and Andrew Miller. I'm gonna be disappointed when we inevitably only sign a couple third tier pitchers and trade assets for somebody's backup ss.

My goodness, Chet Lemon finished his career with nearly 2,000 hits, over 200 HR, and an OPS+ of 121 over nearly 7,900 PAs, and 55 WAR. I had no idea he had such a great career, and he never really fizzled out, despite playing CF his whole career. What a stud.

Two of my favorite teams were the 1987 and 2013 teams, and they didn't even go to the Series.

I remember the 2006 Tigers. I remember the 2012 Tigers. I have great and fond memories of these teams. I even remember the 1975 Red Sox....I didn't watch a single game, since I was only 5 years old, but I remember them because everybody else remembers them. I can go on and on with very memorable teams that didn't win a ring. It would be a miserable universe where winning the ring is the only point of playing or following a sport.

I would be happier with the 96-05 Braves than the 2010s Royals and it's not even close. Having a good team to follow every summer is what it's all about. Winning the post-season tournament is fun but that's only a few weeks versus ten fun summers.
